Hands down it's Pavlik if he hammers out Taylor & Miranda in the same year.

Hands down it's Floyd if he outwits & out slicks Hatton after he outhustled Oscar in the same year.

Mayweather's win over Hatton should clinch him his second fighter of the year award.

Well it's a toss up between Pavlik and Hatton. If Pav beats Taylor tonight he has big wins over a Miranda and Taylor this year and Hatton for stopping Castillo and beating (IF) Mayweather.

Pavlik just handed an early KO. He's candidate for fighter of the year for me.

    Default Fighter of the year?

So far i'd go with Pavlik

If Hatton beats Mayweather i'd go with him but if Mayweather beats Hatton i'd go with Mayweather

If Cotto beats Mosley, a strong argument for Cotto to get it emerges.

Do most agree with Pavlik so far or has somebody else crept under my very narrow sighted radar?

IMO it has to be Pavlik. He beats Zertuche, brutally KOing him. He fights Edison Miranda, who almost everyone (including myself) picks to beat Pavlik soundly. Pavlik KO's Miranda after a brutal 7 round fight. Then he gets off the floor to KO JT, the middleweight champ who beat Hopkins twice, drew with Wright (Winky won IMO, but its impressive that JT could even hang with him and get a disputed draw).
There have been some impressive performances, but Pavlik has had 2 huge fights in which he was the underdog and he came through both times, he went from being considered an overrated, protected prospect to middleweight champion.

If Hatton beats Mayweather you could make a very strong argument for him as well, but I doubt that happens.

Hatton/Cotto if they win. Not Mayweather, even if he beats Hatton. He was favourite to beat Oscar and HOT fave to beat Hatton. Pavlik is numer 1 so far though, under dog v Miranda and Taylor and he won in devestating fashion v both.

Pavlik for me, though Linares shined when confronted with Larios, albeit an aging Larios. Maybe not fighter of the year, but really made an impression on me. Hatton will be FOTY if he pulls this business of with Floyd; would be a HUGE upset against the world's #1 P4P.
