Dereck Chisora vs Oleksandr Usyk confirmed for October 31 with venue still to be confirmed
Dereck Chisora and Oleksandr Usyk will finally go to war with their heavyweight clash now confirmed for October 31.
The coronavirus pandemic saw their bout postponed in May with a new date finally set for next month with a venue still to be confirmed.
Former unified cruiserweight champion Usyk fights at heavyweight for just the second time and is out to maintain his status as the mandatory challenger for the WBO title currently held by Anthony Joshua.
First he must get past Chisora, who remains in the world title picture himself after three straight wins since defeat to Dillian Whyte in December 2018.
‘Del Boy’ secured a forgettable win over Senad Gashi in April 2019 before turning on the style in explosive wins against Artur Szpilka and David Price, finishing his fellow Briton inside four rounds last October.
"I have really missed boxing," said Usyk. "I am working hard in my training camp to show a spectacular performance on October 31.
"I expect a real test in Derek - he is strong, tough and resilient. He is a really big guy and he hits hard."
Chisora said: "Usyk, I've been ready for you all year. It's my home turf and after such a tough year for everyone, I'm going to give the British public the Halloween party they deserve and finally get revenge for my boy Tony Bellew!"

Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I'm ASSUMING that this date was originally intended with a partial live audience in mind, as things were starting to look up in terms of sport having spectators attending events up until this last week (In the UK).
Hopefully they factored in the possibility that crowds were not going to guaranteed and the fight can go ahead, but we're in equally uncertain times as we were a few months back now.
Troubling times ahead for UK boxing.
Usyk gets this fight in, he'll be on par with most HWs: once or twice a year. With that said, Chisora is a good test for him.
All's lost! Everything's going to shit!
