Watched the fight last night. Brinkley looked suprisingly good and easily won the first 6 rounds. I thought Spina was an absolute joke at first, sticking out his tongue and roaring every time Brinkly hit him, he just looked way out of his depth.

I'll give him some credit though, he stuck to his task and didn't give up. The knockdown was legitimate, a good punch bang on the abdomen but I personally think Brinkley is a quitter.

He hardly looked like he wanted to know after being hurt and didn't even try to survive.

Spina reminds me a lot of Enzo Maccanerrellli, big puncher, not much else going on though.

I found myself wishing that he was fighting Joe Calzaghe instead of Jesse Brinkley, Calzaghe would have absolutely destroyed him inside 4 rounds I think.

To sum up, didn't like him at all, he looks and acts the very definition of a punk, even more so than Jesse Feliciano.

A fight with Manfredo would be interesting seeing as they are both Providence Rhode Island boys but beyond that I don't picture him doing anything at all.

At best he will become a semi-regular opponent for the other former contenders. Maybe Manfredo or Joey Gilbert, although I think he will be knocked out by both.

Why is it, that everytime, a great prospect has a tough fight against someone they should of murdered, someone wants to say they want to see that person fight the champ..??
Joe calzage? why...why would you want to see someone who is still learning from one of the best trainers in the world fight someone with so much experience? what would that prove?
its like asking a recent highschool grad who wants to be a scientist.. "HEY SPLIT THE ATOM" and he tries and doesnt succeed the way a biochemist(or whatever they are) would, and you say HAH!!!! your gonna fail... why not ask him after he has his doctoral degree to do it...

Point is, how bout you give this guy a chance...he has training to do, he hasnt had mustaffa for long, and im sure mustaffa has things he wants to practice with joey. Thats what training is for...

Calling him a bum is a little harsh, but youre right that he will fail against quality competition. Jesse Brinkley is OK but clearly cant take body punches and is not top opposition

I dont know that spina is a BUM. But I do know that befor the premature stopage, that he was getting his but handed to in pices. The cut initialy thought was caused by an elbo, but have since changed my minde. However spina has a punchers chance, if you throw enough bombs you'll hit something, eventuly. I keep hearing how in the NY area he's a good fighter, sorry NY. Do some of you actuly belive that aginst a quality apponent he'll do better. His trainer (sorry forgot his name) said that we spared better than this guy in the gym. Did they beat him too. And spina cant figure out why Manfreado got on the contender and he didn't , it's pretty simple, spina is too stupid and one demintional to get any further than he is. A tuff guy with a punchers chance. He was getting beat soundly by a guy that was smaller, weaker, and less power. If he fights Manfredo, peter gets the win inside 4.
