I havent seen a lot of Margarito, just what I've seen of him on Youtube, but I did notice things like that. If he continually sets himself to wing those big bombs and explosive powerful combinations that he is known for, Mayweather will see it and beat him to the punch, jabbing him to death or moving away and counterattacking. I believe a fighter with speed will beat a fighter with power if the other factors are relatively equal. The combined speed and skill of Floyd Mayweather Jr would easily allow him to beat Margarito to the punch as he came in seeking to get set and unload with his power shots. On the flip side, if he tries to box the greatest pound for pound boxer in the sport today, Margarito would likely open up a whole other can of worms that he didnt need to. I cant see Tony winning this fight, but who knows? With his power, Floyd could not afford to make even one error. This is one of the bouts i really want to see.
The thing is,the most iporatant aspect of your rationale is you really want to see the fight. This isnt' another one of those Floyd fights where you know he is DEFINITELY going to win. Also what happened to Floyd getting $10 mill for Baldo as opposed to the $8mill PLUS he was offered to fight Tony? In reality,he only got $8mill for fighting Baldo,so again, another inidcator,of his for whatever reason not wanting to fight Margarito. Also, remember,Margarito can bang to the body(which no one does against Floyd)can jab well and is bigger than anyone Floyd has fought. He is relenetless and although Floyd will counter him alot,Tony will have SOME success due to his style. He is a pure pressure fighter, much like Castillo who "beat" Floyd the first time. Tony is also good at cutting off the ring. I tell you bro,Margarito would give PBF hell and he knows it.

    whoa gamo!

i dont think i ever heard anybody say that pbf was getting ten mil from the fight

in fact, it was ME who broke the news on this forum that mayweather was getting $8,000,001 for fighting margarito

if youre the #1 contender (mayweather at the time) do you fight the #2 contender for 8 mil, or do you fight the universally recognized welterweight champ for 8 mil?

Nope, you're mistaken,I myself posted that PBF was supposedly getting $10mill for fighting Baldo and I heard it twice, once from Goossen and once in an interview but then after the fight, the figure was $8million and as for the Tony fight,he was guaranteed $8mill plus a cut of the PPV sales. Well, beating the universally recognised W champ at the time does not look so great if you're just looking for the biggest but easiest payday and have no intention of defending the title.

Margafearto does not fight well enough to defeat PBF,Clottey hit him at will so imagine what Floyd would do.

Indeed, you are correct, Clottey hit him at will for....4rounds...Margarito(who was rusty, injured hence the arm punches) wore out the rugged Clottey after that with his assualt on the body and I don't if you saw,but Floyd didn't exactly look amazing against Baldo did he? Now I'm not one to by 1 performance and I know Floyd is better than that, just as I know Margarito is better than he was against Joshua...

I myself believed Mayweather would massacre Baldo but I was totally wrong and also, Clottey and Floyd do not fight alike. If anything,it showed Tony,as ppor as he looked, could come through the best you have and outwork you.

okay, maybe it was you who posted the first fictional article about the purse of that fight, but it was me who posted the interview with leonard ellerbe saying mayweather is getting 8,000,001 for the fight

i bet its getting real lonely on that margarito bandwagon lately

Lonely on the Tony bandwagon? With Doug Fischer,Steve Kim,Ray Mancini,Gill Clancy all respecting Margarito and saying he 's a the major threat to any WW on the planet,I wouldn't think that was being lonely. And on this site, there's plenty of Tony fans

The problem for Margarito is that his biggest flaw fits right into Mayweather's biggest strength.
Margarito is slow and that lack of speed makes him incredibly easy to hit. And Mayweather is the fastest fighter on the planet. Bad combination.

True,he is slow but who was the fighter that gave Floyd the most problems? One of the ones with pretty slow handspeed in JLC. Margarito cuts the ring off well, has an ok jab, throws punches in bunches and can murder someone to the body(see the fight with Santos,he HAMMERED that 170 plus pound guy to the body and ROPPED him in round 3 or 4 but it was not called!!!!!).

His chin is strong enough to take Floyd's best and Margarito is awesome when he gets a fighter to the ropes,I mean he works head and body brilliantly(see the Cintron,Lujan,6 heads etc fights) and Floyd does like to go to the ropes. Margarito can also mix it up well on the inside, and for once,he looping right hand could be a very very good thing because both Jesus Chavez and Corley landed on Floyd with looping rights.Corley actually buzzed him with that punch.

I'm not saying Tony would win but his style would give Floyd troubles he has not faced before. Tony will get hit but I also believe his non stop punching and stamina will give him moments in the fight too and although he's not a massive puncher,he certainly has good power in both hands. He would work Floyd to the body better than anyone else too. It would be a great fight.

This would not be a good fight for Margarito, PBF has to many advantages over AM.
It would be a boxing lesson and i doubt Margarito would win a round!

That is an ABSURD statement. Not win a round?

I just don't think Margarito is in Mayweathers class that's all.

But to say Margarito would not win one round is ridiculous. Look at how much faster than Castillo Mayweather is,yet Castillo has given him more problems than anyone else to date!

I;m not sure if Margarito is even a top 5 guy in the Welterwieght division. I believe that PBF, Mosely, Cotto, Judah, and Castillo all beat Margarito.
