Well, it certainly seems that Tarver is winning the popularity contest on this forum! Personally, I would love to see hopkins iwn, he's got to go out on a high, after what he's done in the game, he deserves to go out on a high. Yes, go Hopkins, though I can't see anything but a Tarver win within the time.

"Tarver will look like a big sloppy man that can't catch the midget!" Quote from Hopkins mouf!
I never bet against my man...so I'm gonna go with B-Hop on points...but I still think that the weights too much for the Nard.
Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!
OMG I can't believe I'm saying this cos I still think that nard' will kill tarver's ass but, has the media machine got us all? Its got me I know that because never in a million years would I believe nard' could beat tarver and yet.....
Remember the good old days, we miss you Marco!

Hopkins will win this fight hands down. Trust me, I can break it down.
Hopkins condtioning is way better than Tarvers. The reason I know this is because if you look at Tarvers last few fights, toward the end of the fight he gasses out completley. He did it against Johnson twice and against Roy Jones jr. in their 3rd match.
Hopkins has never been knocked down in over 12 years. He has only been Knocked down once, but got right back up. Trust me, he can take a good punch. Also, the fact that Hopkins is one fighter who always sticks to the gameplan. Never abandons it, to make himself a crowd pleaser.
People are going to overlook hopkins because he will be the smaller man, but look at all hopkins fights, he always comes in shape. Jermain talyor really had to bring his A game against hopkins and still couldn't even put a beating on b-Hop. Taylor even admitted that hopkins is too cleaver and well schooled as a boxer to get caught with a Lucky punch.
The man is 41 years old and fighting at the same caliber as these other young fighters...That is impressive wheter or not anyone cares to acknowledge it.
This is a fact...Tarver will have a very hard time making weight to weigh 175lbs. He put on alot of weight to film the Rocky VI movie. More than he has ever put on since boxing. It is much easier to come up in weight than it is to go down. If hopkins weighs in at about 170 to 173lbs, he has this fight Won. He always does his best against Southpaw fighters so this will be a big test for Tarver. Hopkins might no get the Knockout Tarver, but I can guarantee you...if Tarver gasses like he normally does towards the last few rounds, Hopkins will pick him apart.
Tarver is such a fool to put up a bet for $250,000.00 that he will Knock hopkins out in less than six rounds. That means he will have to go out there and basically brawl and pray he can land a good shot to take hopkins out. One of the defensive fighters in this era of boxing. When Tarver starts breathing hard, he will then find out what Bernard hopkins is all about.. Hopkins all the way. The most disciplined fighter in boxing today, he's gonna do it his way just like he has always done in the past.
He's been down thrice but your point is well recieved![]()
People are making hopkins the underdog probably because of how Tarver was able to handle Roy Jones jr. Let's make this one clear, Roy jones jr, in his last fight with Tarver, was coming off 2 losses back to back KO's. Hopkins on the other hand is coming off of two close fights w/ jermain taylor. He stayed active all throughout 2005, fighting 36 rounds and really looking impressive.
Hopkins and Jones jr are two totally different fighters. on June 10th Antonio will have to eat those words, calling himself the "Legend killer", and might have to ask Hopkins for a rematch, because tarver is known for being better in his rematches.
I think people will believe that Tarver will tower over Hopkins like he did Roy. But they are only an inch apart and They have the same reach.
One thing I agree on is that Tarver ALWAYS tires out in the last 2-3 rounds. It's a sure thing. And losing all that weight, I can only guess, and hope, that he will tire out maybe even a little sooner. I see the fight bein a stale mate up untill that point, possible with Tarver winning even, definately on that piss head Ledderman's card any way. But around the 9th round I see Bernard start pickin up the pace, countering Tarver, workin on the inside, and putting a hurting on him. Bernard Hopkins is the better fighter, he may be smaller, but he is for sure the superior boxer. He will win this fight on points, it's just a matter of whether or not the judges will let him.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

I truly hope you're right mate, though I can see the merits of both boxers, and lmost important is that its a good fight. If B-Hop goes out with a dull points win or a defeat, it will reflect badly on a great career, and he deserves a fight with some true fireworks, and something really competitive to show that he still has it in him, even if it is against someone who is fighting that same old enemy as him...age.Originally Posted by Hulk
CC to you too. I also hope I am right.Originally Posted by superheavyrhun
As big of Hopkins fan as I am though, honestly I could stomach a dull points win as you call it. But if Bernard could some how pull it out and even knock Tarver down, late in the fight with one of those counter rights a la the Robert Allen fight, boy would I be happy as hell! Let alone if he could put him down for the count or TKO him. Most likely I see a Hopkins win on points after a chess match. But if either of the above happens, I will be one happy SOB. Let's go Bernard, I know you can do it man.

I'm making Hopkins the underdog because he's not a legit 175er.Originally Posted by boxingufcdvds
The only way that Hopkins wins this fight is the stamina.
Hopkins fights far too cautiously to take the fight to Tarver...which is exactly what Hops needs to do. He needs to get back to his roots...when he was the Terror instead of the Ex & he needs to put it all on Tarver instead of being the tactician that he has become.
Don't get me wrong...I love tactical boxers...that's why it's called boxing...but there is a time & a place for everything & Hopkins needs to do what he has not done in the past 3-4 years...THROW CAUTION OUT THE GOTDAM WINDOW!
I love the Nard...but it's easy to see the problem.
Hopkins better just beat his ass & retire.Originally Posted by boxingufcdvds
