Everybody fights bums, stoolies and tomato cans at the beginning of their career, without exception (well OK, Azumah Nelson and Jeff Fenech spring to mind as exceptions that prove the rule)
The good fighters are the ones who stop fighting bums when they reach main event status. That said, you can only fight what is around (Marciano)
If God wanted us to be vegetarians, why are animals made of meat ?
With very, very few exceptions, every fighter, who has/had an excellent statistical pro record, has met his fair share of 'bums'.
That is just common sense...
If you want to ruin a potentially excellent fighter, stick him in 50/50 fights from day one.![]()
Agreed - fighters have to learn to fight (technically, under pressure and in front of a crowd). They need to experience different scenarios and come through them .... and they have to learn the habit of winning.
Just as we have some easy days at work, they also need some easy days at work every once in a while.

Brian Neilson springs to mind, his opposition was very carefully selected.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough
Charley Burley
Yeah now that's padding the record....but I ain't mad at him if gets a title shot and gets dismantled....Originally Posted by RHHatton

A lot of these fighters, had a lot more fights on their records than boxrec suggests. Some of these fighters, fight under alias, that are very hard to pick up on, not that this is necessarily a good thing.Originally Posted by JonesJrMayweather
