HBO didn't give him nothing against Hopkins. He fought Hopkins agressively and won both fights. Hopkins was scared to throw against Taylor cause he was getting caught with shots that hurt. He only fought near the end of both fights when JT was tiring. Not to mention BHops constant dirty tactics that he could have lost points for as well. Bernard was exposed in that fight. He's a fraud!

The truth hurts! LOL
Trinidad hurts! (from Bernard's a** kickin')
Trinidad is a guy that I can be proud to say I'm a fan of. Hopkins made his career by throwing illegal punches when the ref ain't looking. Wow, that's impressive. What do you think his record would have been otherwise. I believe what I see, not what those lame commentators who are paid to be biased and make the house fighter look like a god.
Are you crazy?
Aside from the Tarver fight I would like you to tell all of us one point when Bernard Hopkins was considered the "house fighter." EVERYONE, HBO, the sanctioning bodies, promotion teams and many fans held a lot of things against Bernard during his reign, only after he destroyed Tarver are they patting him on the back. The man is a legend and he done it with no help from the so called big guns.
I had Jermain losing this fight just when I scored it, but this is another situation where boxings scoring system (as much as there is little alternative) fails us. Winky won the fight, Winky won his rounds much more decisively, but scoring by the ten point must system I could only give the fight by 115-114 Winky. In my heart I knew he had outclassed JT as much as I like the champ, but the fact remains Jermain won some close rounds and the scoring system we have means he can get these sort of draws.
Tis a shame.
He wasn't always the house fighter but was always dirty. The fight with Tarver was actually one of his cleaner fights and he still fought dirty. Up until he beat Trinidad, I never heard anyone say they liked him. After, everyone has been actin like they've been following his carrer all along and he's this great fighter. Gimme a break!
CASUAL boxing fans took notice after the Trinidad fight. Even as young as I was I followed both RJJ and Hopkins pretty closely after their fight. Although the fight itself was boring you could still see both would be great.
How can you say a man who had 20 consecutive title defenses against often top quality opposition is not a great fighter. You may call him dirty, I wouldnt at all. From time to time Bernard would bend the rules like any other fighter would but he was never one to rabbit punch or low blow a lot aka Zab Judah, a true dirty fighter. You accuse him of illegal punches when the ref isnt looking. First of all I would like you to bring up a few occasions where Bernard has repeatedly done this. You cant just throw that about.
Ill never try to disuade anyone from not liking a fighter or his style, but discrediting a career such as Bernards has got to be a case of ignorance, fan boyism on someone he beat or just taking an alternative opinion for the hell of it.
And "bernard may have not always been the house fighter" is understatement of the year. Look at all his big fights and I can confidently say Tarver was the only guy he fought where Bernard was favoured by "the house."
I can quickly tell you that you can look at any of his fights, if you were indeed watching all those long boring years, and you will see that in every fight he did that. I'll give you something recent so you don't have to rack your brain though. Against Taylor, every clinch ended with ref saying break, Hopkins still throwing shots on Jermain's back and back of head on the other side of the ref. Every time Jermain got pissed and hit him back he gets warned though. It was despicable. But, that's your great champion right? He didn't get robbed in either fight against Taylor. He just finally fought a good middleweight. The only other great fighters he fought were Tito and Delahoya and Tito started his career at 140 and Delahoya at around 130. Most observers and analysts choose to ignore these things and glorify Bernard anyway because first of all in their position, if they say something that goes against the tide of what everyone else is saying, they get made out to be a moron. Not many guys on tv say what they really feel. I'm not buying. Bernard is not what they say he is so stop believing all you hear. Try watching an HBO fight on mute and you'll see a big difference. Try watching the Wright v Taylor on mute and you'll really see where I'm coming fom.
There were so many blocked punches that the commentators got excited about that I had to mute them. The only thing I will give Hopkins credit for is getting his life together after his prison stint cause I've done it and it takes a real man to sacrifice and make necessary changes. As a fighter, he'll go down in my book as a fighter who got more credit than he deserved.
I'll try watchin on mute I have the fight, but I dont really listen to the commentary, I dont see how this will affect my opinion.
Trinidad and ODLH were the only decent middleweights he fought? No disrespect but do you actually follow the middleweight division? Focus solely on Bernards twenty defences. Glen Johnson, William Joppy, Trinidad, De La Hoya and Eastman were all top quality challengers to the crown. Echols, JD Jackson were a couple a step below. Then he he controversially loses his belts to the up and coming, 15 years his younger new kid on the block in fights that were ridiculously close and many believe Bernard won (especially the first).
I dont think the guys Ive listed would listen to anyone tell them they werent "good" middleweights because they all were, they were just up against one of the best of their generation in B-Hop.
You also refer to Bernards career as boring. This is simply your opinion, Bernard was a master tactician and its easy to appreciate his superior boxing skills. I believe your simply using this "boring" point as some way to justify your rant as Bernard as a cheat.
B-Hop wasnt a squeaky clean fighter but he wasnt especially dirty and discrediting his acheivements is crazy.
