Was that the Tyson wannabe against the aussie guy on FNF? I didn't see it. Was it that bad of a decision?
That was a bad robbery and hulk dude i dont know if you watched the fight or not but urango did not deserve that win and shouldnt have that belt around his waist.
Since this is a (supposed to) a forum for intelligent people to discuss boxing I won't invite you to put your mother on a trailways bus and send her here to me.(is Trailways still in business ?)..Mr.Demise
It's nice that many are so passionate about boxing, since I am a Florida boxing judge but even the Australian judge had it unanimous for Urango. This was not a hometown decision. You have to land punches and fight to score points and Rabah just basically ran for most of the fight. Two judges had it more acurrate at 116-112 and 115-113. From home I had it 115-113 for Urango. Keep watching and go to a live event and you will have a better feel for who is winning.

Who's ignorant ass propagandist is this who just created an account to stave off the Urango nay-sayers!!! If we used your philosophy, then Muhammad Ali would NEVER have won most of his first 20 figths!!Originally Posted by fsuboxman
He did the same thing Rabah did--HIT AND DON'T GET HIT. That's the part of the sport that's called Pugilism-- the sweet science...
And if that is your decision, then you are against the fans (who WERE THERE came to CHEER Urango), the commentators, and Teddy Atlas.
Let's look at the rules and see who did what
Clean Punching (25%) Rabah was landing combinations without being hit!
Effective Aggression (25%) Urango was the aggressor, but far from effective
Ring Generalship (25%) Who controlled the fight? It looked desperate and hopeless for Urango as it got later. Granted, Ben Rabah began to punch less in the later rounds...
Defense (25%) clearly Ben Rabah
Now tell me what you saw that gave Urango the fight!?!?!?
I had it 116-112 Rabah, I thought it was a depressingly bad fight but Rabah won IMO. I hate agreeing with Teddy Atlas on a scorecard cause he's usually a horrible judge but Rabah did win the fight. But I've definitely seen worse robberies, its not like Rabah landed much of anything meaningful the whole night but Urango landed pretty much nothing. Rabah's landed punches weren't very clean at all but Urango was horrible, sure he "pressured" Rabah but that mainly was just aimlessly walking forward without a jab and without a body attack. It was clear that going to the body was the way to go against Rabah but he just loaded up with one punch at a time. Just don't like Urango's style, don't like Rabah's either but he did outbox him.
This is a great observation of the fight! I thought the fight was less impressive b/c Ben Rabah would not LET Urango get started. I also believe that if Urango threw A JAB and some BODY punches, he would have STOPPED Ben Rabah, but he was outclassed in the ring -- or just inexperienced. Either way, **fsuboxman ** is lost in the store when he says YOU HAD TO BE THERE... no... Urango had to be there and he wasn't when it came to punches!Originally Posted by OumaFan

In all seriousness though, in any other country Rabah would have won, but like what happened to winky wright and countless countless times before, aggression wins fights in the states.

I was completely shocked at this decision...
It was a No-Brainer.....
As much as I hate it, thats what happens when decisions are left to the judges....You get BULLSHIT like that!!!
Anyone that says different about this fight either didnt see the fight or watched it with the same Horse Blinds that the judges were wearing....
Good Luck,
Coach
Snakey and others I watched the fight, the whole thing, pretty closely too. It was boring, because it was apparent that one guy just did not want to fight at all, and the other was too slow to catch him. And whoever is bringin up Ali's early fights, let me explain somethin to ya, he boxed. He used his legs but he stuck and moved and connected on his opponent with clean shots. Just like Pernell Whitaker and recently Floyd Maywhether. What Rabah did was run, offer next to nothing offensively, besides the occasional slap or pitter patt punch and didn't put combos together. Urango pressed the action, but connected less than Rabah, but when he did connect, they were punches not slaps. I saw it 116-112 Urango.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
