Are you telling me that Kessler has no Weaknesses and if he did... anybody could go in the ring and exploit them? Come on... you and me both know that boxing is alot more complicated than that.

If Kessler's defence is so tight... I would like to know how a shorter lighter man was practicly hitting him at will in light sparring (which makes it mostly skill based) when he was ment to be Kessler's sparring partner...
Don't make me post pics of...... The awesome punching power of Mikkel Kessler

Lacy was 1 of 3 in those areas... If Kessler trained like a demon there's no reason the fight couldn't be super competitive, imo.
Huge fan of both Kessler & Calzaghe...but Calzaghe would smoke Kessler.

No matter how well Kess trains...he's just got to many open ended flaws that he relies on his chin & power to cope with.

Watch him fight. He backs out with his hands low & he ALWAYS throws his power shots, backs out, drops his hands, & checks the work...big mistake from Kess that Calzaghe would capitalize on.

Kessler has to be the one doing all the leg work.

Check out the Mundine fight & the Siaca fight. He was fine walking them down...not backing up though.

Calzaghe definitely got a high workrate, but look at his fights against counterpunchers, and guys who move around very fluidly. He definitely struggles. People have exploded into favoring him due to his absolute beating of Lacy, but others see it as the evidence that Lacy is lacking all over the place.

Kessler is a definition boxer. He has decent to good power, and one of the better jabs out there. He won't be caught dead standing in front of Joe, and hardly ever throws from in the pocket. He's a guy I like to watch a lot because he doesn't stand and swing. Joe's biggest problem will can he chase a younger man around for 12 rounds, use his biggest asset, his workrate, and not gas out at 34.
Super Middleweight also acknowledge as Kessler's Kingdom when Calzaghe has retire

From what I seen in the fight with Lacy, yes he can go with the youngsters all night long

    So Kessler can punch huh?

    Kessler 37 wins 28 KO's = 75.6%

    Calzaghe 41 wins 31 KO's = 75.6%

    Lacy 21 wins 17 KO's = 80.9%

Well hot damn, Jeff Lacy is still the best power puncher at 168

Kessler's defense against Soliman in the sparring tape looked ordinary, but he took Mundine's jab (terrific jab) away for large portions of the fight and blocked most of Mundine's flurries (handspeed comparable to Calzaghe). He also beat Soliman up quite badly in hard sparring before the Mundine fight.

His defense seems to be based on blocking with his guard rather than slipping but this seems common among a lot of European guys. I think he backed away with low hands against Mundine and Siaca because they were being controlled and were timid about coming after him. Mundine is a safety first fighter who won't open up until he establishes his confidence while Siaca was flat out getting the snot beaten out of him.

I think Calzazghe will beat him but not because he's weak defensively, rather that Joe is much quicker on his feet, throws a lot more leather and is a southpaw which will mess with his jab (which everything seems to start with for Kess)
