I don't see how Peter could have won more than five rounds, bad decision, maybe not a robbery but clearly a bad decision.

James Toney
Guess what, Fat Head, it didn't happen. In fact, you had to grab to the top rope to hold your sloppy ass up off the canvas.
Toney should be thankful that he didn't get kocked on his ass. All the trash talk in the world wouldn't have explained that away.
Close fight on which i thought Toney deserved the nod......Oh well.
But i felt bad for him at the end though, not a man of class but nevertheless a great fighter.

I still think Peter won
I'd love to hear which 7 rounds you think Peter won. Because on a sane person's scorecard he didn't win more than 5, six if you are a rabid Toney hater.Originally Posted by BoxingGorilla

Agreed. I wasn't scoring the fight round by round, but I thought Toney was up the entire fight, and had it in the bag already once Peter had the point deducted. It seemed like Peter won 4-5 rounds. Even the rounds that the Showtime guys were giving him were based on him landing one or two punches in the last 20 seconds, after being schooled the whole first 2 1/2 minutes of the round. I'd LOVE to see the punchstats--Toney probably outlanded him by a factor of 3.Originally Posted by Hulk
Yeah, CC. They didnt' show punchstats for a reason. Through over half the fight I was rootin for Peter, I like both guys, but I wanted Peter to do somethin, test James, make it a fight. He did, but he also lost the fight. After that point deduction it was clear James had taken over the fight and probably won both the 11th and 12th.Originally Posted by shza

Hulk
Well, when they announced the winner I balled up my scorehard and bounced it off my friend Dave's shoulder and howled with laughter and glee. He on the other hand screamed BULLSHIT at the top of his lungs.  My girlfriend tossed it in the dumpster this morning.
I remember having Toney winning rounds 1 and 2.  Then I had Peter with 3, 4, 5.  I had Peter winning round 12.  The rest is a blur.
Did they show punch stats for the first fight?  I can't recall...
here is the official scorecard
yeah I agree with you . Its a shame he was just a few pounds away from winning that fight easily .Originally Posted by The_One77
With the point deduction I guess he needed to win 8 rounds!!!Originally Posted by Hulk
Fucking bullshit, crappy decision.
Toney put on a great performance and got robbed, simple as.
2 fights in a row Toneys failed to win against a fat opponent . He should have been the saviour of the division but it doesnt look like its guna happen for him now
I havent seen the fight but from what ive read it seems every time Peter landed Toney was hurt and I dont know where he goes from here . Perhaps hanging em up isnt an option but on that form youd fancy Klitscko to stop him
You need to watch the fight before you assume anything. Toney was hurt once, Peter looked fucked from about round 4 onwards, panting for hair, his little eyes squinting in his bloodied battered face.Originally Posted by GAME
Toney didn't have a mark on him. I would have given it to Toney by about 8 rounds.
I'm completely staggered that he lost. Worst decision of the year. Peter never caught Toney flush, Toney pounded away at Peter and caught him with sharp, accurate right hand counters all night long.
It was a good hard competative fight but it was a UD for Toney. If Peter won this then in my opinion Emmitt Linton should have got the nod over Allan Green
