i'm a big fan of b-hops, i feel he should stay retired, but having said that i'd love to see him win the heavyweight title
WHOA if this is indeed true then damn i gotta give it up to B-HOP i mean i admit i hated on him for a min and then respected him alot more towards the end of his career and even more so when he mopped tarver, but if he pulls this off damn thats gangsta!
Not gonna happen, do you really think Bernard would do something like that. Isn't that the same webtie that said Lennox said he would come out of retirement to fight Vitali again? And also Bernard isn't going to betray his mothers word. Just leave him to his retirement!
Hell that would be awesome, Go B-hop!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bernard already betrayed his mothers word, he promised his mother he wont continue fighting after his 40 but he fought tarver at 41
would love to see it. great chance to hopkins to win another belt. Cant see it happening though. I think if it did happen Hopkins would probably do the same job to Maskaev as Jones did to Ruiz
He should stay retied while he still has his mind. This fight proves nothing.

i'd have to disagree, at least Maskaev fights and throws punches, he doesn't just hold and toss his opponants aroundOriginally Posted by Violent Demise
Being a huge Hopkins fan...I agree to disagree with all of this.Originally Posted by bilbo
#1:Part of me wants him to move & blast out "a heavyweight" but it would have to be more credible than Maskaev. Let Maskaev lose to Peter...then beat Peter who controversly beat Toney...& I'm fwockin sold...till then...it's a waste of time.
#2: I agree with Bilbo on the legacy end of it. It'd be a beaut for his legacy.
#3: If anyone can do anything in boxing...Hopkins has proven...it's Hopkins!
#4: On the flip note...I'd hate to see him lose to a chump heavyweight.
Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!
What do you mean if B Hop came back and challenged for a heavyweight title it would HUGE!!!!!!!!Originally Posted by Samson3000
If Mayweather who isn't a big PPV star can get $8 million to fight Baldomir, B-Hop would easily make double that and probably a lot more to fight for the heavyweight championship of the world.
Furthermore, considering the state of the American heavyweight scene he would be hyped as the American saviour, there would be such an unbelievable hoo-ha over this fight that I don't think you are capable of understanding.
Trust me it would be HUGE. He'd probably enter the ring to a 12 gun salute, they would all sing the good ole Land of the Free and the Brave, he'd might wear his executioner's mask again, hell they'd probably even have him carrying an axe with one of his entorage holding a fake Maskaev head on a spike, it would be fucking tremendous.
If this fight ever happens it will be MASSIVE!
Sorry man, but that's completely warped. Roy Jones at the height of his career made $10 mil against Ruiz, in a ppv that didn't come close to an average DLH fight. Maskaev might be even less famous than Ruiz. There is no money in this fight.Originally Posted by bilbo

Hopkins-Tarver PPV had around 350,000 buys...same as Mayweather-Judah
Plus WBC champ or not, no ones shelling out too much with Maskaev involved... Maskaev-Rahman had about 10 PPV buys and lost a shit load of dough

Hopkins knows he won't win that fight, at this age anywayOriginally Posted by R E L E N T L E S S
The circumstances here are far removed from when Roy Jones fought John Ruiz though.Originally Posted by Samson3000
Firstly Jones had been at light heavy for for the better part of his career, so the move up was not so drastic. Secondly he was fighting probably the least popular heavyweight world champion in the history of the sport.
Hopkins has retired having already made history, with his win over Tarver achieving what his hero Suger Ray Robinson failed to do. Hopkins popularity right now has probably never been higher.
Maskaev may not be very well known in the US but his appearances on HBO have been dramatic. Punching Rahman clean out of the ring 6 years and knocking him in the final round of their rematch last month have left the impression with the American public that Maskaev can punch.
Add this to the fact that the American heavyweight scene is in disarray right now with the title's going to Eastern European born fighters an attempt by Hopkins to win back a heavyweight belt for America would create a considerable sense of patriotic sentiment, the American's being after all probably the most patriotic nation in the world.
If Hopkins did come back out of retirement it would create a huge buzz in the sport and people would definitely want to see it.
I could see it being one of the biggest fights of 2007.
