Others suggest someone like Manfredo is more likely.
Especially given how calzaghe has just voiced his (not very enthusiastic) opinion about fighting Kessler.

Why does Joe worry if people in the USA know who Kessler is? Honestly, 9.9 out of 10 Americans dont even know who Joe is!
I seems to me Joe will be unable to fight pretty soon. His hands cant take it anymore. At this point he needs to stop worrying if he'll be a "house hold" name in the USA. Too late for that. He needs to pad his wallet. I wonder how much hed get paid to fight Kess? 3 million $$$ or so I would think.

I'm pretty sure Calzaghe would wipe the floor with Kessler personally

But does Joe feel the same way? If he could "wipe the floor with Kessler" then why not do it? He'd be the uni-champ and have made some real money, THEN he could call out the big names in America and might get a response. I say take the Kessler fight.

It don't mean a damn thing till I see "Calzaghe signs to fight Kessler". You know from reading the link you provided it almost seems like Calzaghe is being forced to fight Kessler. I'm starting to think Calzaghe is scared of Kessler.

whats the big deal? it sounds to me like he is simply dissapointed that Frank has informed him that he'll be fighting Kessler. You all should be singing his and Warrens praises for taking the fight he doesn't want but means the most to the fans!!

Where in this is it in anyway hinted that Kessler-Calzaghe has been made or is about to be made?

    Has Calzaghe said so?
    Has Warren said so?

The "i've heard" part clearly refers to press rumours and talk.
If it came from Fwank he wouldn't say "i've heard".

Also if it did come from Warren - is Calzaghe likely to come out in public and critizise the choice?

Because its best to have Kessler get a name then do that to him. Bigger name = more credit.

I look at it this way,JC does not have much time left in his career and he knows so he wants the big names NOW to ride the publicity wave he is getting stateside so that means Taylor etc. I fully expect him to get a big fight in his next outing and if he does not, fair dues, criticize the guy for not unifying but f he does get a big name,we can't really complain! I personally want to wait and see! It's a double edged sword,Kessler would be great,a unification match but what about the $$$ and other factors which come into his thinking?

You are really a moron and NONE of what you just wrote is true. Find one post of racism from Royal, thanks....

Your right Starr, but it isnt like Joe has that much time left. And no "big name" Americans are stepping up to fight Joe. Seems to me he should fight Kessler. Apparentley Kess is a big name in euroupe. So wouldnt it be a big money fight for both?

If you were JT or Winky or any other "big name" for that matter what would appeal to you more:-

    1) Fighting the WBO-IBF Super Middleweight champion, with loads of risk

    2) Fighting the undisputed Super Middleweight champion

I know what would appeal to me more, Joe asking to fight them before he has unified is similar to what Kessler could do. It is unappealing to any fighter to fight Joe at this stage, and if he thinks "after Frank Warren declared his next bout, scheduled for February, won't be the career-defining fight he's looking for. Calzaghe's next action looks like being a unification fight against Dane Mikkel Kessler."

Then he has a long night ahead. Any unification bout is a career defining fight.

This might be the stupidest posts I read in awhile. (And that's saying something cuz I read a lot of Pride of Boston's posts). How you going to associate someone base another person's comments? So if I'm backing Erik Morales and I insult Pac with a racest comment on a regular basis, you going to think of Morales as a racist? See how stupid that sounds. Admit it. Your a Calzcrappy fan and you don't want to admit that Calzcrappy is scared of Kessler.
