I don't know about you guys...

... but that was the best counterpunching I've ever seen a heavyweight do!!!

Briggs should cut his weight lifting in half and concentrate on cardiovascular workouts.

Briggs was hella fast too. Funny how I never exected that from Briggs, in THIS fight right now.

yeah Briggs did good counter punching and body work that went unnoticed by the expected action. Shannon has the goods but he could have used them sooner that I think is frustrating the fans?

Sooner in his career or sooner in the fight?

Because he COULD NOT do it sooner in the fight. He saved it for the last. Shannon had too much muscle and was gassed early, so was content with single counterpunches. The only time Shannon did what he had to do, was when Liakhovich was hurt, tired, and demoralized. After Briggs went for the kill with multiple punches, he collapsed on his stool and stayed down even longer than Sergei. Briggs was dead tired, even during the fight you can see him huffing and puffing even at his this EXTRA "slow-paced" fight.

Despite his skill and craft, I don't see him keeping the title long, any fighter that will make him work will tire Briggs out.

But on that night, Briggs was in the zone, in counterpunching and tamed Liakhovich.

Very true....Gyrokai, Briggs was gasping for air and aparently didn't do much work during the fight and wasn't forced to move a lot or anything special like that.

The thing about Shannon is he's a talented exciting heavyweight, problem is he's older and he's gased easily.

I want him to get a unification fight right away....hopefully it'll get the ball rolling on creating a true CHAMPION of the division

Name a fight where Bowe displays his counterpunching skills at it's peak
and against a legitimate contender? I'm challenging you, but in an honest way.
Riddick Bowe by all means is a better boxer than Shannon Briggs. Even better
if you can possibly name a fight on youtube.com. But it's ok if you don't.

They way I see it, Riddick didn't depend on counterpunching. He was a leader not
a follower, he didn't wait for mistakes, he took charge, unlike a counterpuncher.
He's of the mold of the fighters from the 70's boxers. Had a masterful jab, classic right,
and wasn't afraid to exchange. Sure he could counterpunch, but he wanted to fight while
    controling the action.

Also, I know I must be overreacting, because how the hell could Shannon Briggs be the best
counterpuncher in heavyweight history! hahaha There must be someone! James Toney is a
more skilled counterpuncher, but he doesn't have Briggs power in this heavyweight division.
Each single counter just shut Liakhovich down!!! And Sergei had the mettle to trade with Brewster!
And where has Briggs been! This guy Briggs shows up like that, he could have done
this a long time ago when he was younger; won the title that is.
But who cares, he has the title now and he's happy.

But I know what I saw, and I don't care if the fight was boring. Briggs had a game plan and
stuck to it with detication like no other. 98% of the fight he counterpunched and 99% landed hahaha!
He had a sick jab that was as fast as a middleweight, but he never used it often.... too tired.
Thats why I say he should keep weightlifting, because that makes him explosive, but cut it in half and
add more cardiovascular workouts to his training, so that he can jab more and add multiple punches
to his game. Maybe even just concentrate on cardiovascular workouts only!

Yeah, like most or all, I've given up on the Heavyweight Division. But maybe this does add hope. cc to all on page 3.

Shannon is a solid puncher but not much else. He didn't pull the trigger the other night when he should have. I know it is easier said than done, but when he landed he hurt the Serg. L. I would like to see Briggs fight Peter.
