I've said before and I'll say it again Vargas was thrown in with the BIG boys too soon, Winky, Ike and he had no reason to be in there with Tito with only 20 fights his people should have took better care of him probably one of the shortest careers that I know of I mean hes 28 and done in boxing...

Thats why I like when they bring fighters along accordingly....

As for Mayorga vs. Vargas, for Vargas sake it should never happen. TKO for Mayorga

If Vargas had rightfully lost to Wright he may not have had his career halted by Tito

    So do I...
But Don King, fraudlent judges, Cory Spinks, all conspired to screw El matador, and force him out of the welterweight division, and become a fall guy for Tito Trinidad, King's main cash cow at the time, and later ODLH sadly. Its a damn shame. Mayorga was a beast at 147. I wish he could train his ass off and get back down there, he could easily win a title right now, against Kermit Cintron. He'd blast Cintron out quickly, but it'd be a thriller while it lasted.

hulk i like mayaorga too but spinks clearly beat Mayorga that night. i don't even know how the one judges had it so close.

I think you are out of your mind. No way Spinks won that fight, its insane to suggest he did.

I think Mayorga is as done as Vargas, who do you think wins prime vs. prime?

I think Mayorga still has some left in the tank, enough to beat guys like Cintron or Alejandro Garcia, or Collazo. In thier primes, Vargas possibly would have had the edge. He is naturally bigger, and there is no question he did better against both Tito and Oscar. It would have been a great fight. Now though I feel Vargas has lost his desire, and is pretty much shot, Mayorga would KO him and Forrest without too much trouble these days if they fought.

its a good even type match,, should be entertaining. Its all about Match making.. like Gatti -vs- Ward.. neither guy was outstanding technically yet the were at the same level... makes for a great fight. !

    It's all about money, IWO.

This fight is pretty much worthless...as are both fighters...but they share one thing in common...on top of being total busts of fighters...they both had their asses handed to them by Tito & Oscar.

CC # 2470 yeah the money is always a factor in the fight game. you never know , this could be a real good match .. my grandma always said " old chicken makes good soup " LMFAO !

I remember Gatti 's career was somewhat hammered shit going into the Ward fight, Gatti just had a nice win over Terron Millett after having his ass handed to him by ODLH
all of a sudden he was matched up with Ward , and they were perfect for each other,. Gatti got a second chance, a second life if you will.. everyone loves a good even type match up.

That's a good point...& maybe if I could see past my own hate for these two chumps I could agree...but I just can't stand either fighter.

Here's the thing...I'll watch it...just because I love seeing Mayorga knocked the fwock out...& that's what I'd be pulling for.

I would think that Vargas is the better boxer, but who cares who wins. I just want to see a slugfest.

Vargas looks as shot as can be,I'm sure I recall him complaining of back pains at one point after 1 of the SSM fights? I think Mayorga has more left in the tank and will KO Vargas. Mayorga is a genuine badass type fighter, and if Vargas comes in with his attitude too,we are going to have 1 heck of a build up and hopefully,a great great fight.

Question:is it over for the loser?
