I hate seeing a fight end by submission because to me thats not real fighting. To be honest i have seen fights on jerry springer that lasted longer and had better exchanges than some i've seen on ufc. Usually a knock out is a direct result of someone not knowing how to block at all. ~rant over~
I'm guessing you've never been in a submission hold. Fighting doesn't get much more real!

Boxing is still my sport, but MMA has everything that boxing doesn't. They have good fights for free, and when they have a PPV fight, they pack the bill and make it worth buying. There's less drama and less premadonna garbage. They actually teach their fans what the sport is about.

Did anyone compare the difference between The Contender and THe Ultimate Fighter. If I weren't a boxing fan, I would have no incentive to watch boxing after seeing the contender. It sucked. The Ultimate Fighter helped to create new fans (me).

I understand tuck, HOWEVER UFC does has drama and premadonna garbage....you did notice that in the UFC reality show right

JT I don't like UFC I don't like Tito Ortiz, I don't think their fighters (especially the fighters in the reality show) are too terribly gifted. I think the only thing UFC brings to the table besides no politics (which is great) is the fact pretty much anyone can do it....like Bruce Lee said later in his life (after his injuries but obviously before his death) "No style is my style" and it's the case in UFC there are no real tactics, no true strategy....you just fight for your life.

.....I would think it would be MORE exciting but nah, it's not.

...and when I say no tactics or strategy I understand "ground and pound" and "submission" but it's such a fluid constant motion sport that you can't set anything up....you just grab a free limb and pull back on it or beat someones' face in....not exactly a sport for smart people

Actually, you'd be surprised at how much skill goes into that. My roommate works at an MMA school where they also teach boxing. The details of Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai are very complex. Not just anyone can jump in and start fighting, or if you do you wouldn't last two seconds.

The contender's Joathan Reid and Vinroy Barrett teach boxing there and they would last three seconds with a really good MMA guy. Also, read any interview with heavyweight Jeremy Williams. He's fighting MMA and said that he's never had his ass kicked by some many white guys in his life.

MMA done well is a science, like boxing.

Bruce Lee's quote was to illustrate "Having no way as a way" to get the point of Jeet Kune Do across...It takes the most useful aspects out of a Martial art and blends it together with another so you become profecient in all ranges of combat...After you get a foundation you find what works for you and make it your own.....

Not just anyone can do it...Thats total Bullshit!!!!! The skill set it takes is phenomenal....Drop by a Gym that trainsfighters in MMA and see how specialized the training is......Your stradegy is constantly adapting like a Football or Basketball game....There is no secrets going on the whole point of the game is me trying to get into the endzone and you trying to stop me........Thats why they have hundreds of plays on offense and defense as to constantly change strategies to accompolish our goal of winning .....

So not anyone can fight? Fighting is a natural thing tuck....hence the "fight or flight" response....ANYONE and EVERYONE has the ability to fight....some on a different level than others and the MMA style of fighting is more like that than boxing....and I'm just not a fan of it....it's like comparing football and rugby....I like football, I don't like rugby....going to give me hell on that one too??

I don't measure myself by how many fights I've been in...every second of every day I can choose to fight someone. I usually choose not to fight, I have too much going for me to get arrested for assault or any other charges. I'm an adult and inspite of how I post ( ) I am mature in the way I handle situations where usually some punk downtown wants to fight...I go downtown in my nice clothes and it would be a damn shame to have them ripped or have them covered in the other guy's blood, I am also VERY aware of the fact that if I whip someone's ass downtown usually bad shit happens, either one of his boys will try the old beer bottle to the head or I walk out of the bar and get shot or stabbed and I am not going to risk my life over some drunk idiot in a bar. I spar in the ring and that's about it...that doesn't mean I CAN'T fight in the street, I just choose not to...or try to choose not to, sometimes people just need a whuppin

No, not just anyone can jump in and fight a MMA match. Any person can jump into a ring and throw punches, but that doesn't mean that they are boxing.

You apparently don't know anything about MMA, and we might as well be talking about hockey.

I played hockey....YES IN NORTH CAROLINA!

the MMA style of fighting LOOKS more natural...are you telling me if someone jumped on your back you'd do a specific MMA move to get them off?.....myself I'd ram their ass into a wall, but then the MMA people might just do the SAME THING.....I'm just trying to say if you attack ANYONE, their response will be more MMA than anything else.

I've watched the Ultimate Fighter....I don't like it....just leave me to my not liking of UFC there is an MMA board on this site dude.

After watching the striking in UFC I wouldn't be scared of the big old tatooed men....on noooo please don't go all roid rage on me

I agree, their striking usually sucks. But if you were out in the street, Jiu-Jitsu would be much more handy than boxing. As any drunk barsmith knows, most fights go to the ground. And if you can control all ground movement you'll probably kick some ass. Feel free to go to any Jiu-Jitsu school and challenge them to a fight. They aren't about all that moral disipline stuff, they loving choking people out.

Punching, elbowing....and in SOME cases kicking and kneeing

Yes I know there are SPORTS where you kick....in a "street fight" I would rather not win than win by kicking.

You aren't going to budge me on that one....if I can't beat you with my fists, elbows, and head (Oi that's right, Hooligan style) I don't deserve to beat you.
