Too many fights lately where a physically stronger man takes on a smaller {game} opponent ie - Taylor v Ouma , Berto v Figueroa & last weeks Wright v Quartey good match ups on paper but predictable outcomes don't you think ??

Quartey could have possibley scored an upset in quite a few people's minds...but not mine.

I dunno... I was expecting ALOT more from JT in this fight.
You got to wonder what will happen if he ever steps in the ring with someone with decent power that CAN hurt him.

IMO, I think it was not JT being unimpressive but simply Ouma making him look bad. As a bigger and stronger champ, Taylor should have been the one to bring it to the challenger as most believe, but it was the challenger who did that and 'stole the show' to some extent, so to speak.
Once in awhile, get outside in fresh air, take a deep breath & with a deep sigh, let out all the things that's bottled up inside you & be free, & you'll get a glimpse of nirvana.

It just really all depends on what you expect from Taylor. I've grown to expect a lot from the kid & he was proving himself there for awhile but I truly believe that he's fallen off a bit.

I've only seen him fight only twice so I have to admit I'm not much qualified to talk about him. So he was a better fighter then, I didn't know that. That's indeed disappointing cuz at his age he should be 'peaking' instead of declining. IMO, he just needs to be a bit more agressive and perhaps add little more defensive moves, and he should be a good fighter. He did move pretty well for his size, though.

I think he was. He was more confident & Pat Burns had him utilizing his jab a lot more than Steward does...oddly enough. Taylor used to set up everything with his jab & he was more of a presser.

Now he just backs up & tries to fight off of the ropes...clearly not his best spot to work from.

Try to locate his fights against Primera, Cuevas, & Bunema...really good showings of him on form.

You should get what people mean.

Spot on. You have a way of saying what I want to say in a very precise way. When I agree with you that is.

I want to add that when someone is landing shots like that on a smaller man the outcome is expected to be different. When you wait for something that never happens you are left scratching your head and worrying about future fights with bigger men. In the same way that a bad ending can ruin an entire movie.
Taylor is getting a bit soft, from being on top, happens to lots of fighters, the money, the fame, the consequential lack of hunger . Taylor still hit very hard , his punches had plenty of mustard on them.
He just lacks the sharpness and focus

Ouma had hard life, he is a tough fighter mentally. Overcoming obstacles has been his trademark in life, when someone like that is fighting for a world title they hungry, and can withstand tremendous amounts of adversity. Hats off to Ouma for bringing it .

Maybe hopkins in his prime, but i dont see any different Jt than the one who beat hopkins twice. In hopkins he met a guy who only liked to work for a minute of the round, much like JT does, in winky he met a guy whos gunna stand in front of him and make him work his ass off, much like Ouma did... Jt is gifted, he just needs to stop being so lazy.

I honestly believe that it's got a lot to do with Steward. Steward's just waaaaaay to calming for Taylor, IWO.

That might be good for Wlad...but not Taylor. Burns gave him the push that he needed when things got tuff...I don't think that Steward can do this with Taylor.

    Maybe I'm wrong.

That is a fact that slips my mind. Even though it's described in detail during everyone one of his ringwalks...

Seriously, I do overlook fine details. I figure once you get in the ring personally history is moot. Honestly, I would think he would suffer from some kind of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and have some issues in the ring.

that kind of history background allows Ouma to focus . I call it ( Black Side Out) you don't feel nothing, you do not hear nothing ,you just focus on destroying the man in front of you.

People need to get over this 'bigger man/smaller man' crap. Their both middleweights. A guy being shorter doesn't mean he's a superlightweight. Bigger man-smaller man may come into play when you're speaking of heavyweights, which is limitless in terms of weights and provides you with matchups like Wlad-Byrd or Lennox-Tyson, but unless a fighter came up from 6 divisions below, it's pretty meaningless. Sam

If Ouma would have licked Jermaine Taylor last night it would be noted that the wittle guy overcame his size difference. Ouma was a bit squirrelly before he moved up in weight. He has a smaller frame and could fight comfortably at a lighter weight than Taylor could. Taylor could move up another weight class and not look as dwarfed as Ouma did when he moved up.

Is that what they said to Ouma to make him think he could win? "You're both 'middleweights' Ouma." as they shoved him out of the dressing room.
