I love Mike Tyson and in my mind Tyson is a greater fighter than Foreman. Foreman had a quick reign at heavyweight and then sort of faded out with Young. Tyson was so dominant from 1986-1990 and he beat up most of the guys in that period who were good. So Tyson is my pick for better fighter by far but I pick Foreman to win this fight. Styles make fights. This is why George came out of retirement. George would have been able to push Mike off when Mike came forward and then throw punches and Mike might be able to duck one or two, but the 3rd would get him, and George had that uppercut which even if it didn't land it would shock Mike how strong it was. Stylewise George wins this fight by 4th round knockout.

Mike Tyson had a spark in him that made him SEEM unbeatable but let's revisit what Big George did....

Muhammed Ali one of (yes ONE OF) the greatest boxers ever was in his prime, seemingly unbeatable for his destruction of one Charles 'Sonny' Liston but an undefeated fighter by the name of Joe Frazier outworked him and knocked him down and that victory was seen as amazing fast forward a bit and we see a young undefeated George Foreman who just DEMOLISHED Joe Frazier knocking him down SIX TIMES.....fast forward again and we see Foreman-Norton....a Ken Norton who beat Ali by Split Decision then lost to Ali by Split Decision.....Foreman once again just blasted his a** out of the ring.

When did Mike Tyson EVER beat a PRIME All-Time Great?....he never ever did....EVER

Mike was a bully but George was a bigger bully and we all know what that means....Mike fights strong for 2-3 rounds (during his prime) and then starts eating power punches and gets dropped for 10 in round 6.

You act like Tyson's defense was just phenomenal when it wasn't....guys were afraid to let their hands go because they were afraid of a counter not because they were afraid they couldn't hit him....Frank Bruno hit him pretty good DURING HIS PRIME.
Tyson had an awsome defense. For a come foreward fighter there probably hasn't been one with a better defense except maybe Roberto Duran. Also how was George a bigger bully? He didn't punch off the break or appear half as bad ass as Tyson... The question here isn't whether Tyson could stay away from Foreman its vice virsa... Tyson is so much faster, and can hit just as hard that he would completely overwhelm Foreman, and he would find a million openings in Foreman's less than average defense.

FOREMAN actually looks quite light on his feet here im quite suprised
He still has no defense, and a jab that Tyson would easily slip to get in... Foreman was pretty lean back in the day, and I can't see him handling Tyson's powerful body shots very long.

Foreman handling the body shots of Tyson? Again lets look at history. Foreman had only one knock out loss in his 5 defeats in 87 fights ( a TKO actually - the opinion was that he gassed out because of Ali's rope-a-dope tactic)). While Tyson was knocked out 5 times out of his six losses in 50 fights. If Tyson were to land body shots, it may affect Foreman but one bomb from Foreman will surely send Mike to the moon. Again, Foreman had a slightly higher knockout percentage than Tyson. Foremans opposition? Please google him and find out (Ali, Norton, Frazier, Holyfield, Moorer, Lyle among others).

....Tyson had more power than Joe Frazier? Foreman beat better boxers than Tyson ever fought!!!

Put a prime Foreman in with everyone a Prime Tyson beat and Foreman would beat them worse.

If you put an old Foreman in with a post prison Tyson and Tyson loses because at that time Mike didn't have the gas to go the distance and didn't have the power to KO Foreman....also that Tommy Morrison that beat Foreman beats Tyson too.....oh yeah he does because every GOOD fighter Tyson fought beat Tyson.

Foreman was just all around better....Tyson's defense wasn't that good....when he fought scared fighters those fighters were too scared of Tyson to throw for effect they threw punches to try to keep Mike away and that was it.

Also Foreman got cracked right on the jaw a lot of times and it never hurt him...I mean he took EVERYTHING from Holyfield...Mike couldn't take that...and Foreman HURT Evander too Mike didn't do that either!

Damn your southern cornfed ass...you beat me to it.

Anyone that actually rates Tyson over Foreman...well...everyone's entitled to an opinion...I just can't understand that one. Tyson fought & lost to much more mediocre fighters than Foreman & Foreman was in a much deeper talent rich pool than Tyson was.

Well put, Lyle. Right on target. The idea that Tyson, even in his prime, could have handled Foreman is outlandish.

I for one honestly believe that Tyson is probably the most powerful puncher of all time alongside David Tua, because of his speed.
He looks impressive because of one punch kayos and really appeals to me because he was a stocky heavyweight that packs alot of power.
BUT he does not have HEART and LONGEVITY, BIG GEORGE does!!!
Foreman stops Tyson coming in in full frustration in the 10th

have u even looked into why douglas beat tyson?, theres more to it!..and how dare u count mcbride and williams, they should be strickend from the record..and we are talking prime and tysons prime was thye kevin rooney years, not when he lost to douglas due to drinking, lack of training and incompetent trainers...and why does all tyson haters dismiss the spinks anillation? he fought and beat holmes and conney and at the time every one expected him to give tyson trouble and to test him...and he blew him out in 91 sec.....and holmes, holmes was great and he got the worst beating of his life,so why dont u count that win either? i mean holy supporters count that win and holmes was even older and gave holyfeild heaps of trouble...why cant u addmit that tyson was great for those 2 glorious years bettween 86-88 when he trained hard and took the game seriously under rooneys expert guidence

You can't compare stats... Tyson fought way better opponents overall... Only HOlyfield, Douglas, and Lewis were legimate Tyson getting beaten up, and none of those times he used head movement or any of his great defense. Anyways lets look at Foreman's opposition... Moorer:you think he would stand a chance against prime Tyson? He would be out in the first round. Lyle wasn't a good fighter, and still almost knocked out no-defense Foreman. Frazier was simply too small for Foreman. Holyfield totally dominated him, though Foreman did good in the this fight I'll admit... Norton: How many punches do you need to throw to ko an opponent? Shavers took him out way easier, and so would have Tyson. Ali: Foreman was stupid in this fight, and proved that he doesn't have the skill to stand up to Tyson. As for one bomb ko'ing Tyson thats BS... he had a great chin, and Foreman wasn't able to one punch any top end competition... just circus act guys who were in there for a pay day.

Ali did KO Foreman tired or not... He was punched and he couldn't get up by the count of ten, and also he was TKO'ed by MOrrison who is evidence that Tyson's style works against Foreman. Its a bad match up that FOreman can't win period.

oh right so tyson wasnt in his prime at 24 but holmes was still good at 38 and hadnt fought for 2 years holmes was way past his prime and still gave good account of himself at one point he danced on his toes and tyson looked confused a young holmes would of been able to do that for full 12 i dont care if he gave holyfield trouble after he had 2 weeks to bloody train for tyson what do u expect ?? and he still was doing well until he got caught

tyson was good but not as good as people make him out to be he did destroy spinks that was great win but to be honest spinks only got the title getting 2 gift decisions over past it holmes plus he was shitting his pants he already lost the fight before he entered the ring

Foreman probably beats tyson but tyson has a legitimate shot at winning against any all time great heavy prime for prime.
