Chavez would have killed Mayweather

Castillo is brought up because he gave Floyd the toughest fight of his career and in the grand scheme of things Jose Luis Castillo is just a GOOD fighter.....he's not great....he's not spectacular.....he's not flashy.....he doesn't have the best speed, power, or chin......he just fought hard and it did very well vs Floyd and those greats fought EVERY fight like that!

But this doesn't really answer the question of why does a fight from 2002 have anything to do with the prime Floyd Mayweather of 2007?

Chavez was unbeatable during his prime. All his losses came when he was past his prime, that is, after 30 years of age. If Mayweather got hard time with Castillo, what would have happened with prime Chavez? Common sense, folks, common sense - your guess is good as mine. But of course I'm not talking about the fanatics (btw, I'm one too ), cuz they're beyond reason, and nothing particularly unusual about that, though.

Seeing as Mayweather virtually skipped the 140lb division it's hard to judge that one.
If Mayweather had of fought Tszyu we might have a better guide, I think Mayweather by decision in a close one. The Whitaker fight sways me considerably in favour of Mayweather.

Chavez was at his best at 140lb, who did Mayweather fight at 140 that was any good?
Of course fighting Tszyu would have been a better guide as he hit harder than any 140 ponder ever.

Yes it was his first fight at 135 BUT it's Jose Luis Castillo....it's not like he fought someone GREAT.

I was watching some old Chavez footage and I gotta tell yall I had almost forgotten how tough that son of a bitch was. That guy had a rock for a head and his chin was out of this world. I am positive that his relentless style would have pounded Maywaether into defeat. I saw what Castillo did to Floyd. If JLC was able to do that to him just imagine what JCC would have done.

Yeah spot on....Taylor, SRL, SRR, Whittaker, ODLH, Mayweather all had the kinda style to win a decision comfortably over JCC, thats if they stuck to there gameplan.
