Holyfield may have used steroids or not i really dont care as 90 percent of athletes use them in physical sports, boxing, football, and hell even baseball in recent years. Evander however never went over around 219-220 which is a bit unusual for a roid user mabey he used human growth hormone, evander could have been 235-240 on juice more like ibeabuchi.. but who knows looking at evanders body he is just about at the limit of what one can achieve naturally without roids or not I really cant be sure but... youve had a middle move up (roy jones) to 200 pounds on a small frame... shane mosley a light weight to junior middle..... hmmm. yup giuys are on the juice.. tyson, jones mosley, holy probably the list goes on....

they say the helpfull police let them dig through! COME ON!!!

no where in my post did i say or "let on" that Evander was great.
I wouldn't disagree with the Gatti argument. Esp if Gatti was fighting at cruiserwieght.

HE did stand in and compete with the VERY best the Division had to offer at the time. even if it was Moorer, ruiz etc.
He outworked bigger guys...thats about all...and he could take a really good whack! Tyson whacked him a few really good ones.
He was disciplined. Against Tyson he "GLUED" his right hand to the side of his head and didn't drop it.
Stayed in shape......I dunno.....he was good maybe very good....great I dunno...
I think his achievement are looked upon more favorably because he was small...sort of the opposite of Valuev now

we agree on most aspects of your post, except the sources being non-credible cause both you and i know they were

i never said he wasnt "good." i always said he wasnt close to the "all time great" status that so many feel that he was. hence, he is over-rated

yes, he was sometimes VERY exciting and a crowd pleaser, but wasnt gatti kinda the same? how many people consider gatti an all time great? holyfield?

gatti was more exciting, and was a much better champion. evander holyfield was a media darling who could do no wrong, exciting at times, but a horrible champion (look at his record)

but most importantly, EVANDER HOLYFIELD WAS ON STEROIDS!!!

Froze your my Homie and all around these parts but Evanders career has always been our biggest disagreement..... Say what you want but its not proven he was on Roids period!!!!! Again these guys are tested for peformance enhancing drugs...If they tested Mayorga and found a diuretic, you bet your a*** they are looking for roids in fighters too... You dont like Evander thats all good but slandering him without proof is wrong

The fact that fighters are tested proves nothing regarding whether or not they have used performance-enhancing substances. The "he passed his drug test, therefore he's clean" defense holds no weight at all. The reason for this is that many athletes today are being accused of using HGH, and there is NO approved test yet for HGH. So a fighter could use HGH and never fail a drug test. Basically, if you get caught, it's because you were dumb enough to get caught. If you have any brains, you can pass a test.

It certainly carries more weight than accusations made out of pure speculation....

Not really. Both arguments are based on nothing but speculation. The reports that are coming out allege that Holyfield acquired HGH from a pharmacy. HGH is not tested for. Therefore, the fact that Holyfield has passed his drug tests doesn't mean anything regarding whether or not he used HGH. It doesn't carry any weight.

IMO its certainly more productive than defaming someones character and achievements, especially someone who has a tremendous work ethic and dedication to the sport like Holyfield... Evander has spent his career giving it his all spilling his guts and leaving a part of his life in that ring just to entertain us the man is a legend and a 1st ballot Hall of Famer
