We have money we just use it all up in buying $4,000 dll. rims for our 1999 Honda Accords....

Well I will say this, do you think Hatton would also draw the same amount of people if he were to fight in Mexico?
I mean I'm sure like any other ethnicitys the BIG supporters will travel and make the trip but for the most part it wouldn't be the same compared to him fighting in Manchester....

Check who holds the record for a boxing match as far as attandence.
Not Ali, Not ODLH, Not SRR, Not Tyson, Not Lennox......
JCC when he fought Haugen at 'Estadio Azteca' in Mexico City 132,247.
Ali vs. Foreman was 60,000 about half of that....

Mexicans don't travel cause their not hardcore fans, IMO we are the best fans around. Some don't travel for financial reasons and legal status in the States but if the fight is here in the states you can rest assured were traveling....

What do you guys think, who has the best fans?
I think this statement is pretty far off. How do you think fighters like Barrera and Morales have managed to sell out arenas in Las Vegas for years (Barrera-Marquez being the exception)?
It's not because of Americans, it's because of thousands of Mexicans driving/flying up from Mexico City, Tijuana, and all points in between.
Listening to the crowd during the Hamed-Barrera fight, judging by the noise, there seemed to be just as many, and probably more Barrera fans than UK Hamed fans. Or maybe it just seemed that way since Barrera was the one doing all the punching.
Julio Cesar Chavez drew 130,000 for his fight against Haugen, and 65,000 for his fight with Whitaker.
I would argue that Mexicans are the most loyal and dedicated fans that the sport of boxing has. And I'm not Mexican, so I'm not saying this because of any personal preference.
    Well said SweetPea.....

I'm not sure, but I'd probably have to say Mexicans.

I was at the Carbajal vs. Kim fight a long time ago, and I remember there were fights breaking out in the stands everywhere between the Mexicans and the Koreans.

I guess the Koreans get some props, too.

Hey CutMeMick. I wasn't trying to offend by saying Mexicans couldn't afford to. Just as a second world country whose fighters are always portrayed by HBO at least as coming out of abject poverty and living on dirt floors I figured the average Mexican probably can't afford a television let alone tickets to Vegas?

Is that not the case? I know some like yourself are doing very well but I thought the country itself was pretty poor?

Anyways 130,000+ for a fight is absolutely insane!

Thanks to everyone who took part in my survey, coolclicks to all

But thats not just Mexico theres families here the states like that and I can't say this for sure but I'm pretty sure theres families like this in UK, or Am I wrong? I'm asking cause I don't know for sure to me in the words of Eddie Izzard: "We all live in castles, we are up to here with fwocken castles. We'd long for a bungalow or something" Eddie what a funny bloke he is...

Not according to the press at the time it wasn't
I think that there was one fight at soldier field in Chicago that even eclipsed that

Maybe he's Dr Who with a head counter..

All in all theres NO WAY anyone could correctly estimate those old fight attendances (Security would have been pathetic so i can assume there would be even more people in reality)

True, so as far as actual counts JCC vs. Haugen is known as the biggest crowd to attend a boxing event.

    I voted Mexican.

The average American fight fan will cheer their fighter on but won't buy tickets or PPV's. Half the time they won't even watch the fight for free because they'd rather be at a club getting drunk.

I don't think rowdiness has anything to do with how great of a fan you are. The Japanese sit still and harldy make a whisper and they are great nation of fight fans.

Just last year I was asking anyone I saw of latin origin "De La Hoya or Mayorga?" Some said Mayorga most said De La Hoya but very few looked at me like I was insane. Alomst all the white Americans either ignored me or shrugged their shoulders as if to say, "who gives a rats ass."
