My point is that Hearns would beat Margarito, but I am not too sure Williams can. A guy who does well in sparring against someone has alot of factors which can be the reason for this. Margarito might have a hard time with Williams, but he should prevail with experience.
Can Williams take a punch? I've only seen him fight once and it was against a name i didnt recognize. Margarito, I saw just totally demolish Kermit Cintron, who was supposed to be pretty decent. Williams may be able to really get some rounds in over Margarito with his height/reach advantage by boxing smart but even in the fight I saw him with against the no name guy, the no name guy was comin in with some wild lunging punches that were connecting dead on Williams' grill. When I saw Cintron get his ass handed to him, it was big lunging punches that were doing a lot of the damage. And those punches were coming from Antonio Margarito. So based on the little bit that I have seen from these two fighters, I would say Paul Williams should be making some type of changes to tighten up his defense. If he gets caught by a few wild (albeit well timed barrages of "wild" as Margarito is experienced, has good timing and just isn't wild in a stupid way), lunging Margarito counters, it could change the direction of this fight is going in a second.
See for me this is a easy fight for me to call. I'm not a Margo fan but this Mofo can Hit Hard I say he is going to KO Williams

I expect this to be a great fight! I think Margarito will come through the victor though by decision. Sure Williams can bang but Margarito ain't throwing soft either. I think Tony breaks Williams down, comes on strong as the fight progresses & takes him into the deep water where Williams may be just hanging on for the last couple of rds.
The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be
If Williams stands and trades with Margarito he's going to get knocked out. Margarito can be outboxed. But he damn sure isn't getting outslugged.
Just don't think there is a fight out there that I am more confused about. Am starting to lean towards Margarito as Williams defense is just nonexistant, which for some reason I never took note of before. Well, it was better versus Mitchell then it was Matthysse. Versus him, his hands were just dreadfully low.
But I like Paul to be somebody, go Williams.
I'm leaning towards Williams.Margo is going to try to rush in and throw bombs...BUT...he is going to have to get through a barrage of punches.Williams isnt the best boxer nor does he have great defense...he just overwhelms you with punches.
But Williams isn't the most aggressive either and one thing I noticed is that he doesn't throw much when the action in at a standstill, doesn't counter very well, he is going to have get off first every time out, something he didn't do with Matthyse. They will both keep distance, and I think Williams has the ability to slip a lot of Margarito's long straight shots, it's those rangy uppercuts that scare me. I'm picking Williams but I really hope he at least picks his hands up a little. Not much is made of Margarito's uppercuts but they could be a deciding factor.

i remember when he first called out margarito he was like floyd turned him down for 8million? ill fight him for 3million hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Margarito is very good at countering too which could be a factor. And I'm glad you noticed his uppercuts, the Diaz fight highlights these well, and his uppercuts are good in both hands as is his straight right and left hook. I know it's not noticed but Tony can adapt well for/during fights too so again, this could be a factor. Margarito may try to to get on the inside of Williams, because on the outside,Paul has the edge imo thanks to his range.Originally Posted by amat
Im not sure Hearns wouldn't beat Margarito and Williams at the same time, in his prime... He would have blasted Margarito out of there like absolutely nothing..Originally Posted by LegendBoxing65
