Majesty, Oscar might not have beaten Hopkins or Mosley...but at least he faced them. Name one great fighter Floyd has fought in the past 5 years...oh....actually in his entire career?! Easy to look good against Baldomir, Mitchell, Gatti, and even Zab.

You still didn't answer my question man, we're talking about recents, but since you asked, Jose Luis Castillo twice

But how about you tell me what "great" fighters he could have fought at 140 and 147, I'm dying to know

The classic Floyd fan response "who could he have fought?" Hey....maybe it's Floyd's fault or not...maybe he is a victim of his era.....but go take another look at his career resume. The only fighter you can MAYBE call great is Castillo. When did he fight him? 5 years ago. So yeah...Oscar's last big win was against Vargas maybe a little over 5 years ago...but he at least faced a great fighter at his comfortable weight (Mosley) and was willing to go up in weight to fight a legend (Hopkins). He lost/...so what....he tested himself against the best...instead of playing it safe. What the hell has Floyd done? Looked spectacular against stiffs and a mental basket case.

Excellent points,CC. Oscars resume is far far far far far far superior to Floyds' A win over Pernell is a million times better than any win on Floyd's resume. Even a loss to Pernell, albeit a close one would be more impressive than alot of Floyd's wins!

Oscar was also fighting Jimmy Brehdal and Jorge Paez, champions, a year and a half into his pro career, he's had a lot more time and opportunities to fight great fighters. And Floyd's resume at lightweight is very good. Very good.

And good point on De La Hoya - Whitaker Gamo. They're not the same fighter by any means but Whitaker and Mayweather are very much alike. Whitaker was pas this prime, but sill made De La Hoya come forward which is something Mayweather could be doing.

But still, I wouldn't put to much stock in quality of opposition for this one, because while De La Hoya has fought the better competition, Mayweather is the best boxer in the world right now.

DAm rught bro. Even though Oscar has fought much much better fighters,I don't know how much of an advantage it'll be against an Einstein in the ring,a P4P Picasso Floyd Mayweather. As he says, ring smarts win fights and he has it in abundance.

Because Oscar has a great chin to go along with his big power...his room for error is bit larger than Floyd's. Floyd has to be ultra careful the entire fight...because one punch can potentially end his night...and he doesn't have the power to keep Oscar off of him. Sure he has the speed...but someone of Oscar's skill and intelligence will eventually catch him and force him to go toe to toe. I think Floyd is really banking on the hope that his speed will keep Oscar off of him for the first part of the fight and that Oscar's age will show up at the end of the fight. But if Oscar comes into this fight in great shape and is sharp, which he look like he will, Floyd will have to fight the perfect fight to win.

I will say this. The advantage Oscar has on Floyd is the size. That is the big thing. If he did not have that I wouldn't even think there was a chance for him to win. Floyd is faster and at this point better. But the size difference a week before the fight of 150 to 158 pounds is alot. Floyd will come in at 147 or 148 for the fight. If Floyd is still 150 at the next weigh in that will be good actually. if it is natural.. Then 150 to 154 is not too much of a big deal. but Oscar is alot bigger than Shane I think. if Shane beats Oscar I think it is a nice accomplishment. he will have beaten a guy who is alot bigger and should have all the advantages.. The size is the biggest factor for Floyd to overcome. by round 4 we will have the answer how he dealt with it.

Good points Legend. I think Oscar will feel Floyd out for a round or two just to test things out and see how he measures up, but if Oscar hasn't started imposing himself by round 3-4 it could be a very bad night for Oscar.

The argument that Oscar fades has some validity, but even so, he has shown an ability to carry is power late into fights. His late flurry against Quartey, late knock downs or knock outs against Castillejo, Vargas, Carr. He may tire, but he's still dangerous. However, if he hasn't established himself against Floyd and let's him get out ahead on points, I don't see Floyd being stupid enough to fall into one of De La Hoya's late traps. It's possible, but not likely.

Yes, by round 4 we should have a very good idea about this one.

that comment alone is why you don't know what the hell you're talking about.....

well whoever said Oscar is just as fast as Floyd is wrong . This is a smaller guy who should be fighting at 140 at the most fighting a guy who is natural at 154. Oscar will have the power in this fight probably more than he does when he fights other 154 pound fights. Just because Floyd is smaller. Floyd has to make it to round 3 and then he will start to dictate and control the fight. It might be hard in round one or two. Oscar should come out smoking. But he won't.

That's going to be one of the interesting things to watch. I think Oscar is going to get very physical and be very aggressive with Floyd in this fight, and I am one of those who believes that he will be able to impose his size and strength on Floyd, but I think you're right, I don't think he's going to come out that way. He know's, however, that he's not going to be able to wait that long to do it.

I think a lot of the talk of him matching Floyd's speed is to create questions about what he's going to do. I really don't think that's a serious approach. At least not to match speed with speed directly.

We'll have to see how it unfolds.

I had a dream last night that Mayweather is winning the fight with the greatest of ease until his arms fall off between round 5 and 6.

I didn't really have that dream but I wouldn't be surprised if I did. As of late I have been worrying about his hands and wether or not they will hold up for the entire fight.
