The only reason Mercer would fight Kimbo or any professional boxer would fight Kimbo is if they are finished in the professional ranks.

No doubt. Mercer if he got himself together could still beat the Jeremy Bates of the world, but otherwise he's shot. For real, a cage is cool and all, but I would actually rather see this in a backyard or shipyard like the rest of Kimbo's fights, no grapplin, just throwin hands.

I love Tommy, but my boy nearly passed out on the stool after one round against that slob a few months ago.
His body has never looked better, but the stamina is gone.
I died a thousand deaths after the first Mercer fight.
My stamina is gone too.
I can't take it again.

yeah I think you are right. Mercer had the better chin and could withstand Tommy better than Tommy could withstand Mercer's punch. Although I think Morrison punched harder.

ray was a tough boxer, i just hope he can beat kimbo then he leaves the fight game, hes just another fighter who cant retire........i always liked him and still do as he always came to fight

Kimbos not a real mixed martial artist, just a prison style fighter. Mercers has got alot of milage on him and while havent see too many of his MMA fights.. i know that in one or two of them the Ko's came from kicks... and i think we can rule that out with kimbo. Even still, Kimbo will stalk mercer, throwing big and trying to bull him into the cage if not for a stand up mauling ... then maybe for a possible ground and pound. Mercer will try to counter but i think his legs wont move him as fast as he needs to do what he needs to to stick move and outbox kimbo. Sad, but unfortunately at this point.. very likely.

Mercers easiest option... Train his @$$ off to out last kimbo learn a few simple mma moves ( a leg kick, single leg take down, ankle lock, kamura, guillotine, etc.) Move around the ring, then step in and try to catch kimbo on the way in. If he misses or fails to hurt kimbo, go for a single leg take down... try some simple submissions. Take kimbo into the later part of the fight and let kimbo exhaust himself stalking, swinging big and defending the take downs... Then he should be ripe for some big shots and a nasty KO. Smaller fighters have been using that method forever to take down bigger opponents.

This is sad for Ray but I guess he has bills to pay...If Mercer just trains enough to get some wind it should be an easy nights work for him...after watching kimbo it's pretty obvious why he is taking the mma route, he beats up bums, drunks and kooks pretty well but a pro heavyweight he ain't! Ray may be a long way from a top level heavy but he should have remembered enough to starch a novice like Kimbo...

From what I've seen of Kimbo he would have a job hitting anyone in shape, sober or not on drugs. The difference between a tough street fighter and a professional boxer is like the difference between a hamburger and a fillet steak. A hamburger seems pretty good if that's all you've tasted.

i saw a vid of kimbo training with bas rutten, me thinks kimbo is taking the mercer fight seriously.

if kimbo focuses on training i have a feeling that the fight will go on the ground. if his street fighter instincts kick in then we will have a boxing match.

i still want mercer to win though

its very hard to see mercer train hard for this as he was known in his hayday in boxing to slack his training and turn up with extra padding around the waist............no doubt ray has the better tools as taking HOLYFIELD, LEWIS the distance and cleaning MORRISONS atic after getting hit wit tommys best shots takes abillity but right now he's to old.... i think he should take it to kimbo and cain his respect and hopefully catch him with one of those tradmark right hands and banish kimbo to the internet backyard fights

Kimbo slice is a spoof. A alley scrapper. Yes he is big. Yes he is strong, but remember who strong Morrision was when he landed flush on Ray and Ray later KO ed him. Mercer hits ,harder can take a harder shot, has the better defense, and is the better technician. I don't see this fight going longer than 120 seconds.
