Running games. pssshhh. I like those throw-back guys that stayed in the pocket and shot the ball out there. Look at Vick, while a great runner and athlete.......he is a prime example that a running game has is def. limits.Originally Posted by Trainer Monkey

I'm a huge Dolphins fan so I gotta put Dan up there...to me he is the greatest pure passer I've ever seen, but I have to admit if I'm taking one guy to QB my team its Steve Young....highest career passer rating...nuff said. You figure he didn't get to start early in his career then was forced to retire due to concussions. Had he played a full career I think hed be top three in all stat categories....Peyton is making a pretty good run at the top as well.

Yeah well running as a QB isn't bad but you must be smart with it a la Steve Young.....Michael Vick just isn't a bright QBOriginally Posted by boozeboxer

During the afc title game, he stowed his thumb and told his back up to be ready. What kinda of pus almost doesn't finish the biggest game of his career because his thumb hurts?Originally Posted by VanChilds

John Elway was the greatest quarterback of all time.
Which is why he won 2 of 4 Super Bowls and Joe Montana won every single Super Bowl he was ever inOriginally Posted by Violent Demise

Elway didn't have the weapons Montana had. Montana I think is the 2nd greatest quarterback of all time.Originally Posted by Lyle
Thats an understatement. Elway probably even had worse teams than favre and he still got it done.Originally Posted by Violent Demise

Elway is a great QB, but he doesn't make it to the last two Superbowls w/o Terrel Davis steam rolling over teams. Winning superbowls is important, but not that big of deal. Some guys just never play on a team with that much talent....Troy Aikman was on one of most dominant teams in NFL history and one two superbowls but I wouldn't even put the guy in my top 10 QB's. Same with Namath or Sims. Dilfer/Rypien/Williams the list of superbowl winning QB's that aren't on anybody's ATG list goes on forever. Montana was a great QB, but if we are just talking about individual skill, he is just outside the top 5 to me.

Rich Gannon over Tom Brady? That was a joke, right?Originally Posted by Punisher136
Other than Gannon, that's decent list of post 1980 QB's, and it's hard to rate quarterbacks of previous era's against post 1980's qbs. To make my top 5, in no particular order, I would remove Gannon, obviously, and and Tom Brady. Then I would remove Dan Marino, and add Manning, because he never won it all, as great as he was. It might be unfair, and he would on my top six, but he gets penalized for never winning the big one.
If I had to pick one, I would have to give it to Elway and Montana. I can't pick just one. Elway and Montana tie for number one in my book. Once Brady wins his next Superbowl, this year, he'll make the leap take over first place by himself.
