    Well let me see.....

Julios jab has been working really well for him, Berto likes to be very aggressive and blast out his opponents.
Julios learned that you can't blast everyone out, I'm not sure if Berto has learned that yet.

I think Berto comes in and just man handles Julio early on, Julio weathers the storm and begins to keep Berto off with his jab and begins to land his mone shot the straight righ hand. Julios punches are more straight and IMO he would make contact with Berto 1st, Berto has the looping punches and IMO would get caught with Julios straight right hand.

I think Julio stops Berto late rds. or UD. But I would def. favor Julio....
Everybody whose views I respect seems to think more highly of Julio than I do. I don't see much there Maybe its just me.

He's got a bit of power but I don't see much in speed, footwork, punching technique, just skills in general.

I think the only thing Julio's got in his favor is experience but not by that much. I think Berto would be too fast for Julio, and stop him mid to late.
I have to be honest I agree with you, I don't really see much in either of them. Which Peterson brother is it that is the slick boxer? Well either Lamont or Anthony, whichever one isn't the puncher. Imo he'll go further than both Julio and Berto as will the other two Andres'.

I don't really see Berto or Julio doing anything at welterweight to be honest. Guys like Mosely and Floyd, probably Zab and maybe Collazo and Quintana are all too slick. Williams I think would just completely overwhelm them and Margarito, Cotto and Cintron knocks them both out.

I don't see either getting any further than Miranda really.

I have to ask....Where do you get the Peterson brothers out of any of that

Yeah wasn't that at a convienient time ................

IMO Berto might have a future but from what I saw last night I can't see what all the hype was about....

Not saying the kid is an overrated no body who will get starched and fade off into no mans land once he fights a prime guy but....From all the talk his camp and management give off you would think this kid was the second coming of AAron Pryor

Well Rivera was his first real test and he barely passed. Rivera can crack but hes basically an opponent to make bigger names look good. But he made Berto look beatable. I think Berto will do ok but I dont see him being a real force in the division, at least as of now.

yea i'm glad to see that i'm not the only one that thinks that Berto looked pretty much like shit last night, if he doesn't rebound from this performance in his next fight i'm gonna go as far to say that he was all hype, imo he shouldn't have won last night, he should have been dq'd with the ploy his corner did last night, the whole taking off his glove stunt to give him time to recover was disgraceful

Ah I see my posts caused some confusion.

Ok the Peterson brothers reference was because along with Berto and Julio they are Americas other great prospects, however Berto and Julio get more attention. I mentioned the slick boxer of the two because I feel out of all these prospects he has the tools to go the furthest. However HBO and boxing fans in general like the KO guys hence Berto and Julio get more coverage.

As for who the two Andres were, I meant Ward and Dirrel, two other young American prospects who both have the boxing skills to advance far.

I just feel that of all the prospects, even though Berto and Julio are touted the most, it is in fact the lighter punching (and thus less interesting to the tv companies) Peterson brother along with Ward and Direll who are likely to be futrue world champs and possible p4p stars of the future.

I really don't see that happening at all with either Berto or Julio.

    Hope that clears everything up

Crap, I missed that fight. I wouldnt jump to conclusions on Berto off of this one performance. It was a significant step up for him, this next one if he is fighting David Estrada will be more revealing. I think he just got his first wake-up call. Hopefully he takes a few things from the fight and trains harder on his endurance.

Looks like Berto maybe facing David Estrada next! I think this will be another good step up for Berto against a guy who will come to win! I like the way Berto's team is stepping him up now. A fight & victory against a guy like Estrada will only help to improve Berto's game IMO! Should be a very solid test for the young prospect!!!

I liked what I saw from Berto until this fight. Everyone deserves a "Mulligan".
I hope he comes back strong in his next fight.

I thought that maybe Berto would be the guy from the 04 Olympics that would get a title shot of some short before anyone else, like Taylor and Lacy but I'm starting to think no. There are flaws in his game that have pretty much been obvious from the very beginning and he's a guy who's in love with his own speed and power. He fights in spurts, has a real wide stance, comes in with mostly the same stuff everytime, ect.

I wouldn't worry about his chin. It was a clean shot, it would have hurt most. It's more of a defense issue.

I think ever since De La Hoya came along, and even before that with Leonard, we expect WAY to much out of our prospects. I mean, in the era of undefeated records there just isn't any room to make any wrongs anymore. It wasn't impressive really, but I'm sure he'll get better. Hopefully this is a wake up call and he makes some adjustments. I think if anything it's good for him so long as he can handle it mentally.
