I'm not sure what you mean by ironic in this context. This was the exact complaint/excuse most raised by Oscar supporters after Floyd won that fight.

I thought that the main complaint raised was that Oscar landed the heavier punches and showed the more aggression?

Anyhow, Mayweather always says he's going in there to fight and scrap and KO his opponent, but mostly he does look to box his opponent, which he is no doubt sensational at.
Most of the talking is usually the same old drivel to be tuned out anyway, the only thing that matters is the hand that is raised in the ring.

I don't know, I didn't see Oscar land much of anything in that fight. But I think people complained at least as much that Floyd didn't make it as much of an action fight as they would have liked after saying he'd knock Oscar out.

But I agree with you that the only thing that matters is the result.

Besides, what does it matter what any of us say about it anyway?

Maybe we take ourselves too seriously.

I stated in another thread that both PBF and Ricky are at the top of their game, so it won't be possible to argue down the W by saying one isn't what he once was. You _might_ make that argument (though others might disagree) regarding Castillo against Hatton ... it won't be possible with this fight even to suggest such a thing.

Whoever wins has a nice shiny W and detractors be damned.

However, regardless how Floyd looks on the night I don't want anyone giving it "but Floyd came back from retirement, Hatton fought a washed up Mayweather, etc"

Can we all agree on this much?

Come on Ricky smash his body so F****** hard he wished he was lieing in ABC ward!! (in reference to his disrespectful comments about how all other fighters are like "A, B, C, 1, 2, 3)
Everyone seems to retire after a big fight. Many fight within a year.
    Publicity.
Part of his promotion tactics of making all the fans think that this may be the last time to see him in action.

i think hatton moving up to 147 will screw him, like it did against collazo, HOWEVER if hatton wants to move up to 147 to fight Floyd then it cannot be an excuse.

i am a hatton fan primarily but also a pbf fan. i hope hatton smashes pbf to pieces and knocks him out, then we get a rematch and maybe a trilogy to end both careers, floyd will show he can come back after a loss, he'd prob win 2 of trilogy so he gets recognition as the best and hatton shows that he isn't a fluke like so many people seem to think. we get some great boxing and it all works out.

i doubt that will happen but we live in hope.

Contrary to most pbf fans I don't think he'll knock hatton out, hatton prepares too well and is way too psyched up for hard fights, i think pbf wins on points.

Personally, unless Mayweather comes in to the fight way too complacently, I think his movement is too good to let Hatton get inside and smash him up. However, if it is a good fight then by all means more should be arranged, they're two of the highest profile names in the business, but all I hope is they can providethe entertainment to back it up.

I'm with you on Floyd by wide points decision.

Yeah I'm with ya Super...also it dont matter how hard ya train given the likelihood that your opponent trains as hard, then it comes down to styles and ability,

And thats where I feel Floyd's gonna win it, unique in his ability and a very awkward style that he fights very comfy with, he's also used to fighters coming to him or having to fight off the back foot, and even tho Rick is no slouch as a come forward fighter if ya cant hit it often enough,ya cant beat it,

It will be interesting to see who refs the fight...if its Micky Vann can I change my mind lol
