I'm sure we are talking of different Trinidad's: Campas (56-0 ~50KO), Carr, Whitaker, De La Hoya, Reid, Vargas, Joppy, and I may be missing some other names on his 42 victories and only 2 losses with 35 KO. But, it seems that in your book Tito fought 2 times in the last 7 years.
Starting with his last fight at 147, Tito fought 5 World Champions (3 undeafeated) in three (3) weight divisions and one mandatory fight, and just lost one fight (Hopkins).
Outwork and outmuscle, yes, but outbox not usually. Oscar was outboxing him, Campas is not quite at that level, Vargas is also not quite at that level. Look Tito won fights because he could punch and used the tools he had as best he could. As far as strict boxing goes, his defence was loopy and his footwork wanst very good. Nothing against the guy, I always liked watching him fight but as far as skills go he cant compete with the elite above 154 imo cause you take his power away he has very little to go on at this point in his career though he does have heart... and a decent chin, maybe not at 170 though.
Geez, whats this hole thing about not being able to out box people. Did Tyson outbox people, did Duran outbox people, did Hagler.
Tito is not a slick boxer he is a boxer/puncher who excells at pressure fighting. It is not whether or not he can out box the boxer it is whether or not the boxer can handle his pressure. Tito is an elite which means only the elite boxers can handle his pressure. It really makes me sick when people put Tito down cuz he couldn't out box 2 or 3 elite boxers, one of which couldn't do it for 12 rounds and fell short at the end.
Im not talking him down. Tito was a great fighter, he just doesnt have the style to beat Roy. I agree he is a puncher, just not likely at 170 compared to a guy who fought at light heavyweight for years.
