It's just a common sense, all sports have progressed tremendously in the last 30 or so years, all the records of the old have been broken by leaps and bounds (I'm only talking here of the records of athletes whose perfomance can be objectively measured like those in most track-and-field events, all forms of racing, and many others) and I have absolutely no reason to believe boxing is the only exception. Even the records of Jesse Owens, who in his time left all his rivals gasping way far behind him, can be broken by high school athletes today. All right, have whatever laff you want, I don't give a shat (sorry I'm very bad at spelling them words), and how 'bout some soda cans and bottles? - I'll still be sitting here unperturbed underneath my nice pink umbrella.

Geeze, it's me and Bruce against the world, naw against the idiots, I mean, very nice idiots. Stand your groud pal, I'm pretty sure we're on the 'right' side.
Penalosafan, you sure stand your ground. You are worthy to be called my buddy.... for your brave defense I will give you cc for ten days. Here's my first.

aint no way pac could beat sug. Dude was way too big for him. Manny would have probably gotten KO'd. I think the sug man only fought at 129 way early in his career. Maybe two or three times. After that he filled in at 147 to 160's. Manny would have looked like Linda Blair with his head spinning.

Not to say that Manny is not good but this hypothetical match up does not make sense to the Ol Dog. Mad_Dog is one brilliant son of a gun.

    he is cool too.

U could also argue that SRR would have been even better, and would beat any of the modern day fighters if he had the training, diet, etc of todays fighters. Its a two way argument.

pac can not be another sugar ray robinson. pac will be the next himself. The best filipino fighter ever is pancho villa, pac is closing in on that in my oppinion but that does not mean he'll be the next pancho villa. pancho had 100 plus fight and died before his 23rd or 24th bday and already was the first typoon across the pacific.

jack johnson was the first all time great, but ali is mostly praise to be the original. Anyways it all depends on the media, and majority of the fans opinions. Remember opinions are not facts. Its hard to go against the world, so while I may say ali was a copy cat of jack johnson. It won't stop people from still believing ali is the original greatest :P to avoid getting redicule and bash, I will just go along with every body else opinion and say ali is the greatest. as much as i like ali, jack was the original

    El Gamo,

Cool man. I will change the topic.

    "Pacman better than Robinson".

Seriously, Pacman is pacman and Robinson is robinson. Robinson, the greatest of all time. Pacman, one of the greatest of all time (warning:that's from a Pacman fan).

Ya, the SRR is a legend no doubt (just like tracker Jesse Owens) but don't make him a god - the way you guys treat him it's as if I'm talking blasphemy. C'mon guys, wake up, competition now is definitely much more high in all sports, so don't tell me boxing is an exception, I won't buy that for sure. Use your mind fellas, not heart - as they say when the heart and mind clash, it's the heart that always wins but the mind is always right. I've got high rate of analyzing fights correctly here cuz I use my mind and don't usually let my emotions affect my analysis. (The only one I missed lately is the Barrera/Marquez fight where I went for KO by Barrera which was not farfetched though - I still think prime Marco would've KO's Marquez simply because he has 'highly questionable' chin.)

Besides, the SRR has some losses to his record, and I'm pretty sure most of the fighters then would be considered 'cab drivers' by standard now - it's just a common sense. Let me also add that it's not pac only I have in mind who I think can beat him, I think many other modern legends can beat him too, like Chavez and who knows, even Barrera - as I've said before, competition is definitely higher now. That should make many of you happy cuz I've noticed about half of the guys here who's saying otherwise are the usual ones who usually got nothing much good to say about pac. Jesse Owens, though highly respected like SRR and rightly so, is not treated the same only because we have tape-measures and stop-watches that can accurate measure the athletes performances. Because of them, we know Jesse Owens, who led all his rivals by wide margin during his time, can be beaten by a high school athletes! Imagine that. If we had a device like that for boxing, I'm pretty sure the results would be identical - though I'm pretty sure SRR won't be beaten by a high school kid . Don't get me wrong though, I do respect SRR as a legend, no doubt about that, but beating the best of fighters today, hmm, that's another story.

So again, I'm standing my ground solidly as ever, unperturbed by what others say, but still under my nice pink umbrella.

Regardless of whether or not PAC is better than Robbinson. I think it is about time we started opening our minds to the possibility that there may be better fighters our there than Robbinson. He shouls not be a lock for the greatest of all time. He should constantly be reevaluated and compared to todays and future greats.

I don't think a fighter needs to have 100+ fights to be considered better. In our time that just doesn't happen anymore, with only very few exceptions. You have to have good quality opposition but not only that, you also have to be recognizable. All time greatness has always been somewhat of a popularity contest. I suspect that there have been other ATGs, maybe better than Robbinson or Ali, that just were not well known. To give you an example, how many people outside the hard core fans know Finito Lopez.

There have been fighters who came close or couls still do it. Imagine if DLH had won all his fights, with his list of opponents it would've been hard to deny his greatness. But in the end he lossed many of his big fights because he was just not that great. But the point is if he had won all of his fights, he should have been considered top 3 all time and he wouldn't have needed 100+ fights to do it.

If Mayweather would step up his opposition he might make it to that top 10 ATG list. But if he does not he will fall short and all his inmens skills just won't matter because he didn't make the big fights or become popular enough.

    you have a pink umbrella
Yup, I use 'em mostly at night though. But just don't ask me what color of underwear I wear, you might just freak out if you find out.

Salamat, pare. I'd be happy with 3 CC's though. Here's one from me.

Yup, I do take my stand solidly when I think I'm right cuz I rely on facts, and use reason or logic, not emotion. I'm usually not influenced by whatever other sez, unless when they're based on solid facts and sound reasoning; then, and only then, will I relent.
