Calzaghe by UD, I really want Kessler to win though I am ready for a changing of the guard at 168.

For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
I can't shake the feeling that Kess will pull of this upset.
When Joe fought Lacy, it seemed like everyone outside of Wales (with a few exceptions) was picking Lacy to take him apart...then he schooled Lacy and everybody turned on Lacy and called him overrated. I think both sides were right in the aftermath. Joe is really that good, but Lacy was somewhat overrateed. I mean, it was a freakin shutout, as dominating a performance as I can remember at that level.
So now Joe C is getting lots of love and he deserves every bit of it. He'll have the edge in speed, skill, and hometown advantage. How can you pick against him? Just a hunch that Joe will show his age just enough, and that Kessler will present him with a combination of strength, skill, and power that he hasn't had to face, ever. Kessler is better than Lacy. Way, way better than Lacy, and Calzaghe is older, and I just have a feeling. Kessler's jab and straight right will be much harder avoid than Lacy's idiotic, plodding advance. Joe is going to have to deal with a bigger man, with longer reach, an one of the best jabs in the business.
I can see Joe winning a close, legit decision, and I can see Joe getting away with a hometown robbery, but I can also see Kess stopping him, and I that's my prediction. The guard is changing.

Kessler for me is more over rated than Jeff Lacy. I have watched eight of Kesslers fights over the last two weeks and he is nothing special whatsoever, his power is way over rated, i dont even think he hits that hard. He wont be able to handle Calzaghe's in fighting. He just doesnt have the skills. Easy UD for Calzaghe imo.
You are right about what Joe needs to do...make it a game of infighting. Kess won't be able to deal with Joe's handspeed and skill on the inside, slappy puncher or not. But Kessler, because if his jab and straight punching, may be able to control distance. Distance is key to this fight. If Calzaghe consistantly get inside on Kessler, he will win. So maybe you can call Kess's power overrated, I'll disagree but I won't argue it, Kessler does know how to jab, throw a great cross, and create good distance, at least against lesser fighters. If he controls distance against Joe, he has a good chance.Originally Posted by skel1983
Lacy is an infighter. He's short and looks for the hook, not the jab. He WANTED to get Calzaghe into in infight because he though he would be able to overpower him and eventually land the big punch. This played right into Joe's strengthts...his speed and skill at infighting took over and Lacy could never get off. Lacy walked right into the hornets nest. Kessler is not going to do that. He's going to at least TRY to say on the outside if he can keep Joe outside, he'll have the advantage i'm convinced.
Actually, the fighters themselves aren't overrated. It's the importance that some boxing fans attribute to their opinions (myself included) that is overrated.Originally Posted by The Rookie Fan

Let me copy and paste the outcome that I posted in another thread.
No way Kessler will lose this. It's his time. I'm even going to give you the scenario. Calzaghe takes round 1, which will pretty much be a feeling out round. After that Kessler's jab and right hand take over the fight. He takes round 2 and round 3 easily. He drops Calzaghe late in round 3. Calzaghe tries to fight back in round 4 and in the process breaks his hand. Kessler goes in for the kill and stops Calzaghe with about a minute left in round 4. Calzaghe groupies refuse to give Kessler any credit. Instead using the broken hand as an excuse.
Any word on how many tickets have been sold? Last thing I read was about a month ago, when they had sold about 30,000.
I think it will be a great fight, and a close fight.
I'm still crossing my fingers both of them make it to the ring injury free.
just seeing the wacko's round by round: calzaghe-kessler makes me happy.
cc wack
i will go with calzaghe on a disputed decision, to many people hate cal for him to have a respected UD, but i hope one of them wins by a brutal KO...
