    Its an offshoot of the mod movement
    It was originally called "hard mod"
    Basically it was a bunch of working class kids,who while they liked the hard rock sound of the mod movement,didnt want to,and couldnt afford to dress like total poofs
    Slade are more or less skins on their first record,the two movements melded in to one about 1968
    As far as bombers and Doc,quite sensible really,if your working class
    Docs were a very comfortable workshoe that was subrisingly affordable,bombers you could get as army surplus,theyre warm,and they last roughly forever
    I still do car repairs in my green one I got in the 80's
