Hey didnt Calzaghe make this statement not too long ago?

    Also on fightnews http://www.fightnews.com/page2.shtml

    Calzaghe rips Hopkins!
Unified super middleweight king Joe Calzaghe has lashed out at Bernard Hopkins after Hopkins' trainer Nazim Richardson suggested that "The Executioner" should fight the Roy Jones Jr-Felix Trinidad winner rather than Calzaghe. "I'd have more respect for him [Hopkins] if he just came out and said 'Joe, look, if I fight you I'm going to get my a-- seriously beat. I accept that you are the best so why don't you just let me be and allow me to fight the winner of these old guys so I can just have an easy pay day' but instead, he's got his trainer to basically say 'Thanks, but no thanks, Bernard doesn't need to tangle with a dangerous young guy like you'....if he is the legend that he says he is then fight me, or otherwise be known as 'the guy who twice chickened out of fighting Joe Calzaghe.'"

And now Joe Calzaghe(talking in the third person now) doesn't want to fight Hopkins?

    #2188.

Oscar can, has, & will...especially for this match up.

The money that Oscar can bleed outta this one would be match would be tuff to add up.

Errrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmm...not sure I can 100% agree on that one.

Yes...he has been impressive...but I aint sure I can say that I'm more impressed. I'm impressed with Joe & he did well against Kessler & against Lacy & handled those in between...but in the end...he still aint a Hopkins.

Now that being said...I believe that Calzaghe should be considered a GOAT in the end...especially if/when he beats the Nard...& I believe that he will.
    Hopkins/Wright=PPV
    Calzeghe/Kessler=Freebie on HBO
The calzaghe kessler fight played about 5 times on all the hbo channels during the week... as much as i didn't like him before i'd pay to watch him again not so much b-hop anymore
    You and about 5 others
Holyfields fights are PPV's,freaking Bates/Golata was a PPV
Calzeghe draws Boxing after dark,Espn intrest in the states
Face it Hopkins is the name in that fight, and he's offered Joe 3 million dollars more then he asked for,and 2 million more then Hopkins was "reportedly"(the reporters in question being Joe Calzeghe and Frank Warren) asking for,and according to that camp 6 mill was unacceptable.
    Its just Frank Warren BS
he may be the name but he's still not a draw especially after watching him fight winky wright at least calzaghe puts on a show worth watching
    You know thats not true
You honestly didnt think Warren tried to sell it to HBO or Showtime as a PPV?
If he didnt Calzeghe should fire him now
They passed because they knew it wouldnt draw flies

Great champions. Ha. Calzaghe pulled out against Johnson in 2004 and 2006. The fighters he faced after pulling out were "The Legendary " Kabary Salem and "The Great" Sakio Bika. I guess winning the Contender series makes Bika a great champion

Face it they did their normal routine, ask for something they know they wont get,and then they go around to all the Brit tabloids complaining how theyre being dodged.
Except this time they got flat out called on it,and got offered more then they were asking for.
Remember when all they offered Kessler was the European TV rights?
Its typical s from the Warren stable

Johnson was coming off wins against Jones and Tarver. Calzaghe obviously thought better about facing him.

and about 10 losses on his record to sub par opponents ((which suggested even to my granny that jones was well shot having already been beaten already by tarver))

Lacy before the fight was a far more scary fighter to face, so comon sense tells me his hand trouble and divorce where true.

scared of Johnson ... come on VD thats scraping the pile even for you

Please lets stop, anybody whose had to do negotiations knows for a fact they arent giving you 3 pennies more then you originally asked for unless theres a message attached.
Joe asked for 2.5 million pounds
    Roughly 5 million US
Hopkins camp came back with 8 million US
The message was very, very simple,"I'll see you in the ring, and youve got no excuses now"
And Joe backed down, plain simple, and as clear on the nose on your face

this 8 million offer has been posted nowhere apart from a piss poor site that prob makes S*** up to gain traffic, so until i get a PR from golden boy stating the 8 million offer was made... i'll take it with a pinch of salt.

Not to sure if you have paid much attention to the fact that HBO freebies all of the up & coming fighters that they begin to push.

Hatton & Calzaghe to date have been freebies...while they are names to the boxing world...they aren't on the tips of most fan's tongues.

Also...to name a few...Pavlik, Taylor, Dawson, & many other world class champions have been freebies also.

Hopefully you'll note that this happens to all fighters prior to becoming PPV attractions...it wasn't that long ago that Hopkins & Floyd were on the "freebies" list that you started & they are U.S. based fighters...location shouldn't define greatness anymore than where a fighter hails from.

second... show me where i posted there wasnt an offer.

what i posted was i will take the offer being $8 million with a pinch of salt because of the source... never stated there wasnt an offer.

Oh come on,Ive been dealing with it(and not just from you so dont take it that way) that some how its OK to pull out.
Everytime a Yank is on a British fighter, its this persecution complex thing coming back up
I liked Joe Bugner for god's sake
And I am praying Hatton dumps Mayweather on his bum, even if I dont think itll happen, but gods it would be sweet to have Mayweathers mouth finally shut
Admitably I hated Naz,but not because of his nationality,he'd torture guys out there, just to show that he could,it was strictly sadism on his part, and arrogance
Its par for the course for Joe/Warren to float these things out there
I dont even dislike Joe as a fighter,he maintains a good work rate,I do dislike the career choices he's made, and the way Warren's handled him
This would be par for their course, they did alot of the same stuff to try and call Jones out.Until Joe realises he isnt the name he thinks he is,and will have to travel outside of his backyard.
He'll only have two solid wins on his resume, and noone will care about them outside of the British Isles.
Bugner would fight anyone,at any time, just give him a chance.Same with Hatton
    Joe,lets face it,no
Until he does, the defining moment of his career will be beating Mikkel when he had a busted hand
You think we're busting on Joe,but in all honesty,he frustating to us,I want him to get the hell off the Isles and prove it.
Get on the damned plane, everyone else has to
