Notice how Chambers corner got desperate and switched cornermen between 8th & 9th,Was that his Daddy (Chambers)?? Mcgirt assumed chief second role.
Nevermind Cintron-esque request Johnny,Good effort with the RBR.Knowing the result of a main event some how takes the edge off when you have yet to see it the same night Imo
Povetkins better invest in some desire and defense If he wants to stand against Klitschko.

Povetkin looks to have plenty of desire I mean the dude just keeps on throwing, as for the defense thing yeah he better get some or he's going down unless he's got an iron chin and a huge heart.

<=thats Sauerlands son to the right :P

"That was a very hard fight," said IBF mandatory title challenger Alaexander Povetkin after his impressive win over previously unbeaten Eddie Chambers on Saturday night in Berlin. "Chambers didn't fight like I expected, but I adjusted well to him." Povetkin also disclosed that his prefight preparation didn't run smoothly. "I caught the flu and had to take antibiotics," he revealed, "next time I will be in better shape." The 2004 Olympic super heavyweight gold medalist is now in line to face the winner of the big February 23rd IBF-WBO unification clash between world champions Wladimir Klitschko and Sultan Ibragimov. "I havn't wasted any thought yet on who the opponent will be," commented Povetkin. "Klitschko or Ibragimov - against either it would be an honor. In any case, the preparation will be the toughest of all time."

Notes: Nearly five million tuned in to see the bout on ARD in Germany. The bout was also seen in the USA with HBO offering same day coverage. It was the first non-Klitschko bout in Germany that HBO has covered.

Wladimir has a huge following there is one reason, being a Universum fighter for the majority of his career is another, but Germany aside from England is THE PLACE for boxing in Europe...Stuttgart, Hamberg, Cologne, Mannhiem, Dortmund, Munich, Hannover...there are big arenas all around Germany and the fans there fill them up.

The fight with Chambers and Povetkin looked to be in a very small venue.....which is a shame but hell as long as I got to watch it I'm ok with it. It was a great fight until Chambers basically gave up....if he worked on his offense he'd be a threat to anyone (bar Klitschko) his defense is that good and his timing on his counters is great not to mention his handspeed is awesome as well....he just didn't have the will to win and that was seemingly all Povetkin had.

I AM NOT IMPRESSED BY POVETKIN....he's going to get his ass whipped if he fights Wladimir next

Ugh, I was really disappointed in Chambers , he either tasted power early and was gun shy or he was gassed out early...either way his output was for shit, it was almost like he was throwing the fight. I think he was just trying to finish the fight and not get k.o.'d. but its a shame after he looked so good early on in the fight....I heard his pops talking about cardio after the fight....that spare tire says it all, he needs endurance.

I thought it was a pretty good fight between the young guns. Chambers is skilled, good defence but seems to lack drive. Povetkin is work man like, has great desire and is tough. I mean he looked gassed around round 5 yet kept plugging away and fights three minutes of every round! That's impressive for a HW imo.

I don't think Chambers and Mcgirt is a good team. When Mcgirt was shouting at him,Chambers looked scared and went downhill from there(round 5 I think). SOme guys respond to shouting and things like that,Eddie certainly doesn't. He is a talented fighter though imo,if he could work on his stamina.

Chambers Sr. seemed to me to be a very good trainer he was calm and relaxed and this would benefit a fighter as long as they followed through with what was asked of them. When Eddie threw he landed cleaner and harder punches but that has to become a bigger part of his game if he wants to continue winning fights.

I don't think Chambers senior is experienced enough(unless he's been training guys who I don't know know about) He just seemed to mimic and echoe each and every word Mcgirt was shouting at Chambers in between rounds. You could see Chambers was nervous and there was a point in the fight where I think he was so afraid, that he was waiting for Mcgirt to give him instructions on how to fight the fight every minute during the round! Mcgirt shouted jab,he would jab, body shot,he would do it but when there were no instructions he wouldn't do anything. Not a good team imo.

Chambers Sr. might be inexperienced but the way he handles the corner is good, he's calm and that is beneficial to the fighter....yelling at the fighter usually doesn't help

Yeah, that was weird to hear McGirt's voice all of a sudden. I really haven't been too impressed with McGirt of late. He's either yelling at his fighter, or basically telling them that they look so bad he's gonna call the fight. I've yet to see the later inspire one of his fighters to victory, and the yelling didn't seem to work for Eddie either.

Povetkin reminded me of a HW version of Calzaghe. Calzaghe lands cleaner; while Povetkin looks to have more thud to his punches, but they both seem to have a churning, alternating hands, combo punching, high work rate.

....I don't think that high work rate was in the plans until he started losing the fight which is why he was so damn tired for the entire 2nd half of the fight....had Chambers sucked it up and threw some punches he could have stopped Povetkin

I don't know about stopping him, since he never really seriously hurt him,but he did seem to have more power on his punches than Povetkin. Either wayPovetkin is tough, durable and fought his way to the top. The kid has a bright future.I liked his desire and willingness to fight through the tiredness.

Totally agree bro. Didn't do any good for Chambers at all,the loud shouting etc. He was scared!Or at least nervous as soon as Mcgirt shouted at him, round 5 or 6 I think, and it was downhill from there. I like these 2 fighters though, both showed something, was nice to see in this dreaded division.
