And remember, there were idiots saying he was ducking Paul...

Cotto(not Cotto himself, but certainly Arum has mentioned EVERYONE bar Williams, even Clottey has been mentioned)

Collazo(who's team didn't turn up at the purse bid for the fight v Clottey and he said Clottey wasn't a big enough fight before taking an untelevised fight last week v a no-name)

    Cintron(didn't defend v mandatory Clottey)

And a a few other fighters, have turned down/ducked these fighters. The more they fight, the more Tony deserves credit because, regardless of the outcomes of the fights,he's been willing to fight them when no-one else has.

You're giving Margarito a little more credit than he deserves. Everyone undervalued Clottey before stepping in the ring with Margarito and had Joshua not had whatever issues he was having he would have handily taken Margarito's title. Tony was counting his chickens before they hatched by licking his chops at a potential match-up with Cotto. But he shot himself in the foot with his self-appointed 'most feared' moniker and would have looked yellow if he dumped his belt instead of facing his mandatory in Williams. Let's not forget, as much as some might like to say Mayweather is afraid of him, Margarito was calling out a junior welterweight to get the biggest payday of his career. He could have had that and more in Cotto, but to maintain a certain ideal of himself he had to defend his title.
    Oops

Actually, you are wrong here my friend. Top Rank wanted him to fight Cotto. In order to do so,he had to vacate his title, the title he had defended SEVEN times and worked hard to keep. So he declined. Top Rank didn't like this so took him to court whereby they allowed a fight with PW ONLY if Marg was victorius,he would HAVE to fight Miguel. Tony said yes. Had he not fought Wlliams,he would have been stripped and he would have been accused of ducking PW(as he was by alot of guys here). Margarito didn't BACK OUT of anything,he would have fought Cotto and hopefully is going to fight Cotto.

If you think Marg is ducking Cotto, you are a totally confused because as I said before, you, frozen and alot of others were saying Marg is ducking PW etc etc. He fights him,now Marg is ducking Cotto, even though he may fight him this year?

*Sorry for calling you an idiot.*
I shouldn't have called you an idiot either, but it doesn't make sense for Margarito not to fight Cotto... because beating Cotto would have meant way more than beating Paul Williams. IMO he had such a tough time with Clottey that he might have felt he wouldn't be able to beat Cotto who is another short, powerful puncher, but with better skills than Clottey. That may not be true, but it seems stupid to not fight, his chance of becoming a star, because he wanted a belt in a sport where belts don't even really matter anymore.

Tito,I posted the article from Boxingtalk myself. They interviewed Clottey,he was looking forward to fighting Collazo, and he and his team didn't turn up for the purse bid. They interviewed COllazo straight after and he said there was nothing in a fight with Clottey, yet he went and asked,in the same interview, for a fight with Golden Johnson. If that's not a duck, what is? Boxingtalk has no reason to be biased to either ifghter, they have regular interviews from both and secondly, if Collazo's team didn't turn up to an IBF eliminator purse bid, what does that tell you? Sorry bro,I know you like Collazo, but he turned that fight down fullstop. The Linares fight was set up AFTER this debacle,as was Clottey's eliminator v Alvarez.

Yeah, the Collazo thing... I remember that.

I think Margarito having previous losses on his records has something to do with his willingness to take any fights (as it should do). But yeah he has big nuts all the same
