Default Calzaghe and Hopkins go at it about who's got the better resume

    Funny stuff.

Personally, I think Hopkins has the much better resume...but Calzaghe didn't let down and fired back at him.

    Check 'em out...

CALZAGHE: "YOU'RE GOING TO SEE ME TAME BIG-MOUTHED BERNARD HOPKINS!"

HOPKINS: "I'M GOING TO THROW PUNCHES IN BETWEEN HIS PUNCHES!"

I think Calzaghe is more in his prime but Hopkins has the better resume. Calzaghe just started fighting big time competition...he has dominated them but he hasn't really pushed himself to be tested until recently, it started vs Jeff Lacy

Please Calzaghe fought better guys than Lacy before Lacy... I thought Lacy was good as well, but he is overhyped, he sits on his punches way too long and anybody good would beat him. Calzaghe IMO has foughten two solid fighters one was Eubanks and the other was Kessler, and though Kessler did a better job technically Calzaghe fought the fight he needed to in order to beat Kessler, he knew he would have to step up the pace because Kessler was too technically sound and he did.

At 168 there really was no one for Calzaghe to fight before Lacy came along...sure he beat the Robin Reid's and Omar Sheika's but Jeff Lacy had some weight behind his name when he fought Joe.

Bernard Hopkins has fought high calibre fighters for a longer time but before Trinidad he had a tough time finding good competition himself.

I am not denying that Lacy had weight behind his name, but I think there guys like Bika who would have beaten Lacy's ass if they fought. Lacy has all the skills, but he doesn't have the determination or mindset... He has the physical tools to be great, but he doesn't use his boxing skills enough, and he has no defense. Lacy fights too much like post jailTyson and not enough like Holyfield for him to ever be as good as he could have been. There are other guys on Calzaghe's list with more adaptability, and that makes them better fighters IMO.

Hopkins by far and away has faced the higher calibur Competition on a consistant basis and compiled a better resume.A very good and or great fighter still brings to bear the skills and accomplishments that makes him a top tier guy.Lets not get carried away the weights .

Exactly, both careers seemed to kick on late. Can't fault either guy IMO on their careers.

Calzaghe got stick for a long time about his opposition, but he was ducking no one, Lacy Kessler and now Hopkins called him out and he's obliged them all. Same can be said of Hopkins.

I really like how Bhop explained how he is still able to fight at this level... How mileage comes from the abuse you take as a fighter... He has the genetics and lifestyle...

I like how he does not have this vision of himself being this superman but it is actually very realistic.

He said how he is not superfast but is not superslow. He is a fairly precise puncher and he puts just enough on them. I don't think he holds any falicies about his ability. I do think he is leary of Joe and well he should be... He's gonna have to throw alot of puches if he plans to throw in between Joes... ALOT.

I think this fight will be fun to watch and I think the boys are doing a good job selling it.

    They've sold me!

I do love Joe but... C'mon... Who "great" has he fought... An aging Eubank? Stop it...

We have no trouble finding great fighters on Bernards resume.

Again though I pick Joe to take it but not by much... Split dec.

Hopkins is so full of shet. He made his name on much smaller guys and gets wayyy too much credit for what he's done. He says he's fought better guys but the only 2 really good middleweights he's fought, both beat him.

Joe on the other hand has beaten evryone thrown at him and is clearly a much better fighter than bernard. Hopkins would be nothing without fighting dirty and without those wins over two welters.

So you think Calzaghe has the better resume then? Tell me how Joe has made his name... Eubank thats it. Like I said before... I love Joe but lets not get it twisted... Hopkins has fought the better opposition.

Joe just has the uncanny ability to fight better with the opposition put in front of him. I call Joe to win but please don't be fooled by what you have seen Joe do to so many. Hopkins is NOT Jeff Lacy, Sakio Bika, Peter Manfredo or even a faded Eubank. He is one of the crftiest middleweights ever.

So Please, elaborate on Joe's stellar opposition that is better then the "welters" you speak of.

Till you decide to hang up the gloves it's all about who you beat....not who you've beaten. All this tit for tat stuff between the two is funny.

Please read my above post and also elaborate on how Joe is a much better fighter then Bernard. Why... Joe's flurys? I'm confused. I think you are too. If you think Joe will find Bernard an "Easy" foe...

    forget names compare this

what fighter who turned up on that night has hopkins beat better than kessler...

don't compare a prime tito in terms of pound for pound what he was like at WW

The actual guy who turned up on the night to face hopkins, name one who posed a bigger threat, or who was more of a danger than kessler...
