You could make a valid case for either fighter. I saw both in their prime, and it's hard for me to pick. To show you how close this argument is, here's some stats:

    Record prior to 1st defeat:
    Foreman: 40-0 (37 KO's) average time of 37 KO's: 2.5 rounds
    Tyson: 37-0 (33 KO's) average time of 33 KO's: 2.5 rounds

    Pretty even, huh?

I'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks that. And i also think Mike would have beat foreman also, and Lennox. If Lennox can get knocked out by Oliver McCall and Rahman what chance would he have stood against Mike's Bad intention combinations. He would have been too aggressive and dynamic for Lewis. Just my opinion.
If Mike would have fought Liston, he would have been Scared $hitless. Once Liston gave him that ice cold stare of his Tyson would know that it was going to be a long night. Liston was the master at punking people and had no fear of anyone himself. But who knows, Tyson might have got him. I just think that Liston was too tough and hit too hard.

Mike scare of Sonny Liston? Come on..what planet you on? Ali wasnt scared of Liston so why should one of the most dangerous punchers in heavyweight history be scared of a guy that got knocked out by 14stone Ali (who wasnt notorious for have a big punch)

    Sonny would have been scared.
    Come on man!
Liston took a dive and everybody knows it!

When Liston looked at someone, they felt 2 inches tall. That's how menacing he truly was, everyone was shitless of him and that is a fact. Hell, Ali was also scared too.
Mike and Liston both had the same indistructible appearance and attitude, and a true aura of invincibility.
Neither man would be scared of another.

The difference between Tyson and Foreman is, Foreman uses Arm punches while Tyson utilizes power from his whole body(legs, hips, shoulders&arms). THat being said Foreman still KO's his opponents imagine if he punches the same way as Tyson, He'd probably get banned from boxing. Foreman hands down

Liston was one of the greatest heavy hitters ever, period. Probably hit harder than Fraizer. But smokin Joe was a better all around fighter and stayed away from da mob.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

yeh liston was a fantastic puncher but he also had good boxing skills as well. You're right he was the original bad boy of boxing.
Frazier was amazing, he never gave up and his left hook was devastating. Frazier also had good boxing skills and he wasn't just a slugger like foreman. this is partly why he was harder to beat than foreman.

Ali once said that "of all the fighters i have fought Liston was the scariest, Foreman was the most powerful, Patterson the most skillful, but Frazier the toughest."

However i think the greatest heavyweight puncher of all time is iron mike tyson. Like humble said Tyson utilizes power from his whole body which made him an incredibly devastating puncher with bombs in two hands.

I dont agree Tyson would knock hiim out. i dont understand how a guy who weight 14st and wasnt that big of puncher knocked out Liston and IRON Mike wont. Sorry northside i just dont agree. Mike in the late 80's would have wiped out most if not all of the above.

    Interesting read tho.
WTF, CAN YOU READ, IT STATED THAT LISTON TKO'D TYSON! IT'S IN ENGLISH

The question is....can you read. You need to ease of the steroids and calm down. Mike would Knock Liston the F*** OUT.
yes, need some steriods to calm me down, Northside didn't read it correctly so I appologise, but still believe that Liston has a chance, not saying he is great! Â Â

I meant to say ease OFF not of.
Anyways...so if your saying that Liston wasnt great. But Tyson was, so how could a person who was never great beat a man that was?
Buster Douglas, Danny Williams and Kevin McBride aren't that much to write home about and they beat Tyson, but only Douglas did it in Tyson's prime.

Michael Moorer would have died if Foreman had dug his toes into the mat and landed that right hand the way you describe.

It's pretty even......I am a little more impressed by Tysons punch becasue he was a smaller guy and it almost seems that his body was wired for throwing huge shots........although watching what Foreman did to Norton and Frazier was jaw-dropping. If he played his cards right, he would of decapitated Ali.

Yup! That foreman right hand wasnt flashy at all but it was downright catastrophic.
