    Default WNF Thread

This week the season finale of Wednesday Night Fights taking place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL.

Two feature events on this fight, I'm not sure how they're gonna schedule it, but this is how I assume it will go. In the first hour undefeated "Mean" Joe Greene takes on a Columbian power puncher that fits the Columbian journeyman stereotype to a tee. In the second hour still rising star Joel Julio takes on Jose Varela from Nicaragua. both bouts are Middleweight matches 10 rounds and for minor league titles.

    Joe Greene 19-0-0 (14 KOs)

    vs.

Jose Miguel Torres 20-3-0 (18 KOs)
For the vacant NABA light middleweight title
    ------------------------------------------
    Joel Julio 33-1-0 (30 KOs)

    vs.

    Jose Varela 23-3-0 (16 KOs)
For the vacant WBO Latino light middleweight title
    ------------------------------------------
    My take:

Greene vs. Torres: Dangerous fight for Greene IMO he hasn't been in with anyone that's as big of a puncher as Torres. Greene is going to have to get ahead early and do an olympic style hold on to his lead pot shotting and moving the whole fight, I don't think he can avoid Torres for 10 rounds so I think the end of the fight comes around Greene gets caught and loses his "0"

Julio vs. Varela: This is Julio's fight to lose, while Varela is a decent opponent, I don't think he is at all on the level of Julio. I expect a ko early on in this fight and Julio closes WNF season with an impressive KO.

I'm always suspicious of guys who fight their entire careers in South America. You may be good, but it's not a barometer of how good. And his first loss came from biting his opponent? I'm going to predict Greene will either give Torres his first KO loss or it will be a completely lopsided UD for him.

What's up wnf'ers, my guess is green is going to frustrate this guy early and win an easy UD. My only question is by how much since i belive green is going to challenge himself and try to ko this guy.....maybe trying to hard. He'll try and steal the show.... so i'm kinda interesed in how these fights tonight turn out.

Wow, sounds like Bram Stoker is promoting tonight's event. That's ridiculous. How do you even manage to bite a guy's chest? Without it being homoerotic. Wow, poor poor Wilmer Vazquez.

Anyways, I like Greene so I'm glad to see him tonight. Hope he can impress, he needs a solid outing here. But he's facing a Colombian, so my guess is he gets hurt and possibly loses. Because any time I like any fighter and they face a Colombian, it's not a good night. At least I'm not a Sebastian Demers fan.

Julio is a mixed bag. I wish he was still with Mark Breland as even though his competition was nothing, he looked very fluid and played the part of the beautiful boxer under Breland and Whitaker's guidance. Either way it would be nice to see him look good here and not just play the part of the guy begging to get outboxed.

Professional boxing, almost forgot what it tasted like.

Greene is pretty unorthodox with his southpaw style, could use a little polish, he squares up sometimes. He has a good lead hand and mixes up alot of punches, but doesn't jab alot. I'm not sold on his power really, Torres hasnt been down so we should get a little test of that power I think.

I like when they bring obscure South American fighters with records like that.

Makes me wonder when we'll get another Monzon like story.

Just got in in the 2nd, and now they are starting to open up here in the third. Both got some good shots, Greene looks the worse for wear. Its gonna end in a knockout they are open for shots both of em. Both seem wide open for anything up the middle.

Torres needs to keep pressuring Greene; Green seems to get a bit flustered and gets wild.
