Adam, would you have fancied Jean Marc Mormeck's chances at heavyweight? Wayne Braithwaite? Kelvin Davis? Hell Vasiliy Jirov a big cruiserweight tried his hand at heavyweight and didn't do all that great. I'm not saying Haye is going to be a piss poor heavyweight, but there is no reason that just because he was a unified cruiserweight champion he'll have success at heavyweight.

Not to well, those guys were too short for heavy weight but their frames were too big to have any strength at light heavyweight.

I'm not saying that it gives Haye a cert shot at being a top heavy, just that guys like the ones you mentioned fought at cruiser weight because it was the ideal weight for them. It's a legit division, not limbo.

OK if those guys are too short then what about Steve Cunningham?

Cruiserweight is a legit division I don't question that. I question the notion that cruiserweight is a legit area of competition for guys who plan on doing big things at heavyweight.

At cruiserweight Haye was a big fish in a small pond, he was able to bully smaller weaker fighters and in doing so he may have developed some bad habits...that's all I'm saying.

If Haye comes up and dominates heavyweight right away then yes he's something very special, but I am not sold that he will do it. In fact I am certain he will have trouble even with mediocre heavyweights, it doesn't mean he'll always lose, but hell Monte Barrett was able to catch Haye off balance and even if that was luck it's a bad sign

Haye will beat Valuev, then take care and retire Ruiz (for the US fans), then Audley (for the British fans) and lose to Wlad.

...is that his 10 year or 20 year plan?

...I think after the Valuev fight you Haye fans are going to be wondering "Is Adam Booth the best man to train David Haye?"...what has that guy done? Does he have any other fighters? Does he know anything about boxing?

Surely there are trainers who are better suited to get David Haye in FIGHTING shape and not just in shape.

To me, Booth just doesn't seem to know what he's doing as a manager or as a trainer

How can you say that about him as a trainer? His only real fighter of note is Haye and whether or not you like him or not he was undisputed Cruiserweight champ. Now even if Haye had the natural ability of Ali (which he doesn't) he would still need good direction to become the best in the world of a whole division and he got that direction off Booth.

I myself have questioned whether Booth is "World Class" in the terms of a Manny Steward or Angelo Dundee but to say he doesn't know what he's doing as a trainer at all is a bit off IMO!

...you don't need the natural ability of Ali to be champ at cruiserweight. Haye was a BIG cruiserweight and he was able to bully those boys in that division (for the most part).

I just think Haye's style is all wrong, I think he should be putting his punches together and not loading up on shots....if he's loading up on shots at heavyweight he'll land his fair share but he'll also get picked apart by the bigger better boxers and he'll get the shit countered out of him one day.

That may be David's own personal style, but it's Booth's job as a trainer to keep Haye's flaws at a minimum. I think Haye will be hindered by Adam Booth or just by Booth's inexperience as a trainer very soon. Booth has already fucked up Haye's heavyweight career quite a bit by losing him a couple of world title shots vs the BEST of the division in what could have been the closest thing to a Megafight for the heavyweight division at this day in time.

I think Freddy Roach or Ronnie Shields could turn Haye into a more dangerous fighter

Maybe but for now he's on a role and if it's not broken why fix it?

Just dug up this old thread and found this quote from Master. This was before the Valuev fight obviously. Do you have a time machine mate? He didn't even say get KO'd by Wlad which is the way I thought Haye would lose if he was to lose.

I also said Wlad would win on points, where everyone said it would be a KO either way.
