I find it funny how someone reads stats or figures weight class are the only things that determine stoppages. No matter what the numbers are, the regardless of weight or history of the opponents... The punches that can get you are the ones you never see coming. Perfect example, being feather fisted Corely having Cotto dancing on queer street before.
Margarito was a murderous puncher (with or without plaster), but his punches could be seen coming a mile away. Mosely stood in front of Cotto and tried to slug with him a good part of the time instead of using his foot work and angles and timing. Judah used angles and speed and rocked Cotto too, then Cotto went to the cup twice.
The fact remains that Cotto is wide open for the uppercut all day, every day and he has a bad habit of dropping his hands before he shoots his punches and is bad at defending consecutive body head punches with the same hand. On top of that you have an experienced trainer looking to exploit it all. The window of opportunity is definitely there, whether people want to believe it or not.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

I don't think Pacquiao will KO Cotto because of the way Cotto hides his chin but I do think Cotto will get cut above the eyes for the same reason. I don't see them stopping the fight though because boxing's starting to get interesting again and that would just confuse a curious public. I think Pacquiao will win by decision. I think the fact that he's had three "easy" fights will actually work to his advantage. I think if Pacquiao fought a Morales 1 or Marquez 2 type war before this fight he'd get frustrated, eventually stand toe to toe with and get killed by Cotto. I think power will be the last thing on his mind. He'll be on his toes all night thinking speed, speed, speed in-score-out. As the fight progresses he'll land more combinations but a Cotto counter will keep him honest. I do think that if Cotto attempts to defend Pacquiao's straight lefts with the same shoulder roll parry he uses against left jabs he'll get caught by the same punch that hit Hatton later on in the fight though I don't see him getting KO'd. I think Roach has planned this. Plenty of speedy lead lefts like those used on De la Hoya early setting up the wide looping left hook.

Are you kidding me!? It's bad enough for those who see Pac as a 3-1 favorite but to think he will stop Cotto?!!? Do these so called boxing fans and critics know anything at all about Cotto? Cotto has taken the best shots from Zab and Mosley and was never knocked down (I mention these 2 fighters specifically as they are in the same vicininty in terms of speed as Pac but hit much harder!). Cotto took a pounding from a huge 147lb'r in Marg and STILL wasn't knocked down...that too with possible plaster'd wraps.

How anyone thinks Pac who is coming up in weight to a prime Cotto at 145lb (still a bitch move on Pac's team to force Cotto to meet 145lb and fight a possibley weight drained Cotto ala ODH) is beyond me.
Unless the weight drain has effected Cotto (we'll know this in the first few rounds) there is no way IMO, that Pac stops Cotto...in fact, I'm calling Cotto to win a UD.

Too many people are getting carried with Pac's 2 previous wins over 'keeping my hands down Hatton' and a past his prime, severly weight drained ODH. People really need to wakeup and put things into perspective...

I will say this...It's a releif at least on this forum it's more evenly split in terms who posters feel will win...but others forums and articles I've read have Pac an 8-1 favorite!?!? Unbelievable
Yep, you got that right! Some boxing fans don't know shit! The fight should have been stopped during the 9th, Cotto was shot after the 2nd knockdown, he ran for the rest of the fight.

Gotta say it was a brave thread to start really. I'm not saying I knew that was going to be the outcome (I actually had money on a Pac decision, so i was pissed when the ref stopped it especially when he had plenty of more acceptable times to stop it earlier) but anyone who said they knew either fighter would definitly win and couldn't believe how stupid so many were being so close to fight time was very brave (and stupid ) IMO.
