Even though everyone criticizes Roach for being an loudmouth, he knows the game inside and out. He knows when it is an perfect opportunity to take a fight. He even said this himself that certain fights are perfect at certain times. A prime example would be a shot and weight drain De La Hoya who couldn't pull the trigger anymore or a shot Barerra moving up in weight. He's banking that JMM is either shot or on the serious decline coupled with fighting at 140 that Khan has all the advantages.
BTW didn't Roach said he wanted Khan to fight Erik Morales awhile back? Well there you go. Why would he suggest such a thing? Because Morales is a legend and a shot fighter. Perfect for con boy to fight him.
Con boy isn't going to get in with a prime fighter like an Bradley anytime soon, unless Bradley starts seriously declining or becomes shot in 2 years then yeah he lets con boy fight him.
There really is some garbage being flung at Khan on this forum when I think about it, this thread is a pile of crap for the most part. People want to detract from the idea of him fighting Marquez by saying he's to old, or can't be effective past 135, really need to start thinking a little more imo. You think Maidana would beat JMM at 140 pounds? He'd have about as much chance as I would for christs sake, get real. I think someone hit the nail on the head with regards to people just wanting to see Khan lose to a crude puncher in order to gloat about it, what a pile of crap. When did Marquez suddenly become a powderpuff who couldn't possibly dent the chin of Amir KhanNot to mention the fact that he would be landing a LOT more than Maidana. Furthermore, even IF(which is a completely delluded if, I might add) you actually think Maidana is more likely to beat Khan, how the hell can you fault the kid for instead wanting to fight Marquez, a p4p fighter who would bring him massive exposure and a huge purse win lose or draw? No fighter in the sport would EVER take option A in a similar scenario, it just makes no sense.
