According to RDS, the result from a "new" investigation (which lasted for around 10 months) concludes that it is physically impossible that Gatti would have commited suicide in Brazil. The results and proofs are apparently shocking enough that a judge from the brazilian court re-opened the investigation case concerning this affair.

I can't say I am surprised, it has always looked decidedly dodgy. So, what happens now? The Brazilians are looking into it again?

NEWARK, N.J. -- A private probe into the 2009 death of former boxing champion Arturo Gatti will disprove the official conclusion that it was a suicide, Gatti's former manager said Tuesday.

Gatti, a popular junior welterweight champion who retired in 2007 with a career record of 40 wins and nine losses, was found in July 2009 at an apartment he and his family had rented in the Brazilian seaside resort of Porto de Galihnas.

Brazilian police initially considered Gatti's wife, Amanda Rodrigues, a prime suspect and arrested her for his murder but released her a few weeks later. They eventually concluded after an autopsy that Gatti hanged himself with a handbag strap from a wooden staircase column in their apartment.

Former manager Pat Lynch said Tuesday he hired Paul Ciolino, a private investigator from Chicago, about 10 months ago to take a new look at the case. He said the results of the investigation would be released at a news conference at the end of this month.

What else was an investigation paid for by the family going to find? Was it really likely that these guys were going to come back and say "Sorry, but your son/brother really did kill himself?"

I look forward to seeing what they come up with of course, but my guess is everyone is just going to have to live with never knowing what really transpired that night.

Yeah I heard about this too. They are claiming that the evidence they have will make it clear that Gatti did not kill himself. I kind of get what u r saying but I think it is more about closure for the family than anything else because I know from experience that nothing is worst that not knowing. I truly believe that if it was clear cut evidence that it was a suicide that the family would've tried to move on by now but considering the relationship status between Gatti and his wife and all the other variables surrounding the case I can't say I blame the family one bit.......even if it is partly about getting the money from the chick because that would be gutwrenching if I were in their shoes

He was no angel either. I believe he had physically assaulted her etc., so IF she did it I'm sure there is plenty of blame to go around.
