Weird that the people who where so confident that it did only 850,000 are mum? And that GBP was quiet about releasing the numbers because it failed expectations

these numbers don't really matter too much do they? They are not going to help make the Pac Floyd fight are they?

These numbers mean nothing in actual viewership, these numbers are what they are paid on, but what about the rest of us around the world who watch for free by other means.

With free streams and everyone sick of paying big $$$ to watch a fight, most boxing fans are on at least one or more sites like this. I am not a paying customer and never purchased a PPV, I wonder how many millions are just like me and won't buy the PPV but will watch it on a free stream.

    Anyone else.?

I guess not. More like bragging rights. Just so funny that everyone hates Floyd, but somehow he is hands down the biggest draw in boxing..

Geez, JT... so what does THAT prove? So he makes more money from boxing than anyone else. So what? I don't get these arguments. All they do is demostrate how people get fooled by used-car salesmen and snake-oil pitch men in circuses. Floyd is still a lousy ambassador for boxing among the general public. No matter how skilled he may be, his fights (especially lately) are still full of controversy and unsatisfactory endings. But people keep coming back for more.

I know you're a big PBF fan, JT... but try to see things from a slightly different perspective. Wouldn't it be great if Floyd, with all his God-given talent, was slightly less of an A-hole, took on all comers without pretexts, and generally comported himself a little better in and out of the ring?

Just to show you I'm not just a hater... I still remember his fight against Judah. First, I was rooting for Floyd 'cause I hated Judah. Then, I remember admiring how Floyd reacted to Judah's blatant fouling in the ring. After that fight, Floyd's stock in my eyes went up. But a lot has happened since then.

That's really it... no more, no less.

Tito, I get what your saying but its more about the Ppv buys that's impressive. The guy may be a lousy ambassador in your eyes but Fans/People are still buying his PPV's in record numbers.

It's pretty cut and dry with no way around. Fans make him the highest earner. The detractors and so called haters are OBVIOUSLY in the overwhelming minority .That's not used car salesman trickery. It's the detractors that are trying to sell you that No one wants to watch Floyd he isint a draw etc.

you cant argue his PPV buys its cut.

Well... you can't argue with PPV numbers. Who knows? Maybe if he was a nice guy in and out of the ring, his PPV numbers wouldn't be that good. It's just the way things work, I guess.... human nature. You either love him or hate him. And the people that hate him buy the PPV's just the same, hoping he gets beat every time out.

When you get down to it, I'm not all that bent out of shape about his personality. What he does out of the ring is his business. I've hated Judah (in the past) and Toney (always) a LOT more than I dislike Floyd.

My main beef with Floyd is that he didn't just say: "You know what... screw it. People want to see me against Pac... let's go for it. People want to see me against whomever... screw it... let's go for it." Floyd's a great talent, maybe one of the best of all time. But whether he ducks certain fighters or not... whether he cherry-picks his opponents (especially in the later years) or not... he is PERCEIVED of doing both of these things. Look at someone like Cotto. Not blessed with Floyd's talent, and not universally liked (no fighter is)... but most people give him credit for taking on any and all comers. Win or lose.... undefeated records be damned.

My point is... Floyd will be fondly remembered by much of the boxing public, especially those who appreciate the finer points of boxing. But he could've accomplished SO much more......

Hit the nail on the head right there.

Miles, you actually sound a little insane..the hate is literally seeping through your pores! Fight was shit? It was 4 rounds of pure action..next time people wont be fooled into buying? Care to put a little wager on that? Thats been said over and over "floyd wont sell after this fight" - another cherry picked, weak opponent. heeeere we go again. No wonder Floyd alwsys talks of packing his bags and going home...one minute he is fighting a young lion so respect to him, the next "oh ortiz was so shit"...same happened with mosley "floyd is so scared of shane, il respect him if he takes the fight"..batters him and "oh he was over the hill". This pattern goes for EVERY fight of his.

Its wishful thinking, Miles and a little delusional to think everyone thinks like you when,as has already been said, you're in the minority because Floyd continues to sell.

It is possible to dislike Floyd and be objective like Tito was and i agree with many of his points but i can see Floyd riles you to the point of losing your kool.

I sound a little insane? This is outrageous and has never been suggested before. Well, perhaps 3 times in the past month. However, I don't think it was an exciting fight and the blow out was appalling. I won't give Floyd very much credit for that. Unless Floyd fights Martinez or Pacman, I doubt his next fight does as well as that.

Furthermore, Ortiz was cherrypicked. A smart cherrypick, but a cherrypick regardless. Ortiz has managed to beat Berto whilst looking incredibly vulnerable, lost to Maidana and was dubious against Peterson. I don't see the track record for being in there with the worlds best. Too young, too soon and it showed badly.

I don't like Floyd, but do have a grudging respect. Beating Ortiz in that way wiped it all away though. It was a bum move and just not necessary.
