Brockton, you look like a proper guido with that heater. I enjoy several different cigars, my favorites these days are the Perdomo Habanitos...just a long enough smoke for me. I only have one every other month or so.

I think Calzaghe vs Jones would have been fun if Jones was in his prime. Be interesting to see how a prime Jones deal with Calzaghes output and work rate. Be interesting to see how a Prime Calzaghe deals with Roy's speed.
I'm quite serious when I say I believe Calzaghe is kryptonite to Jones Jr. His style is all wrong. Fast, high output, good chin, and won't stop. Jones Jr likes to observe and move and Calzaghe wouldn't let him breathe. Jones Jr said as much himself, Calzaghe would ALWAYS have been a difficult fight for him.
It's no coincidence that jones avoided every slick southpaw of his generation...Liles, Nunn and JC! Why? Look what happened when he fought southpaw tarver! I also maintain that fighting the likes of Mclellan, Michalkewski and Eubank would have shaved years off of jones prime too! The Johnson fight is evidence of that! Jones would have been beaten sooner had he stepped up more consistantly!
Great fghter but not the superhuman ppl made him out to be...Too untested IMO. The praise in some way's is unjustified! Some of the replies so far in this thread just re-iterate what my O.P suggested.
Saying jones would beat everyone doesn't make it so!Saying something does not make it so. Explain how he avoided those people and especially Joe? What year could he have fought Calzaghe at 168? Jones was long gone to 175 when Joe was just starting to come into his own at 168. Its simply a myth w/o a time machine.
Fighting at a different weight doesn't mean the fight was a no go! MW Hopkins backed out of a SMW clash with joe in 02! JC v Jones would have been fairly big Trans-atlantic clash any time after 97 and more so as the year's went on....Certainly bigger than Jones v Hopkins (Arguably his best Win) Considering BHOP was ranked around No.8 at the time and was getting battered by B level segunda mercado back then! All jones did in that fight was hit n run in a fairly close fight anyway...
And i don't need to explain how he avoided them i just have to point u to i.e 168lb Vinny pazienza or the likes of Glen kelly and point out the other fighters operating worldwide at the time!! Clear cherry picking really.

Saying Calzaghe would have had a chance vs a Prime RJJ doesn't make it so either. OLD Roy knocked him down, what would a Prime Roy have done after that knockdown![]()
Follow it up with a flying armbar probably... Forearms don't count! Had it benn a legit KD? He would have had to watch him get back up and gone onto be befuddled by a slick, high output Southpaw the likes of which he had no experience of fighting!! Calzaghes chin would have held.
Bold statements regarding jones around here...He would have beaten everyone apparently! Big claims backed up by very little....
Old brittle boned JC battered and abused him for 12 rounds and probably carried him too! What would a 100% JC have done...
So you're saying that an illegal KD means Jones would have battered joe in his prime? A fighter who Took flush shots off of Mitchell, Eubank and Kessler. Never lost or got kayoed. Went toe to toe on numerous occasions and was never really rattled! He may have put him down but certainly not out!
Quality logic EK! Didn't Bhop get dropped by Mercado twice and Pascal twice? What happened in the rematches again?? LOL.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I think you are talking crap Lyle, a prime Calzaghe had no hand trouble and he was faster, Joe would
have had a fight on his hands, no doubt it never happened, when it did both were past there best,
Joe beat Roy it may not be the outcome , Jones fans wanted but it's how it go's.
Maybe Floyd and Manny, will face each other in there late 30's,!![]()
So what u r saying is why should roy fight a SMW after he had only recently moved up to 175lbs to fight mike mcallum (Who's prime weight was Light middleweight LOL) and 5'7 inch Montell griffin! 7lbs was nothing considering most of roys opponents were 30lbs over there Prime weights and a JC V Jones fight would have been big! Silly talk....Joe won a version of the 168 title in 1997
Mcallum was a 40 yr old who's prime weight was 154lbs....Midget Griffin was battered by Michalkewski! Why was jones fighting Griffin and not Michalkewski? LOL can ppl on this thread own themselves anymore!Jones beat McCallum and Griffin twice in 1997 at 175
U have that on good authority do u? Yeah right......Why fight someone who had just clowned Eubank when he can fight a 168lb vinny pazienza who's prime weight was Lightweight! Quality...He was not about to shed weight and come back to 168 to fight a newbie that nobody had ever heard of.
LOL @ some of u.....

There is no such thing as a false fact. The fact of the matter is that when Joe was just starting to get his feet wet at 168 Jones was beating the body snatcher, Griffin, Hill, Del Valle etc etc and partly unifying 175. So I suppose Joe should/could have went up and challenged him.
And again I was and am a huge Calzaghe fan but the fight was simply not doable. Fact.
