aye, mate, aye. For the record (if there IS one), I lived in an ALL BLACK GHETTO CALLED EAST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY (population 88,000, ranked in 2012 as the "2nd most black city in the USA after Gary, Indiana") for 6 years, and my first wife was an ALL BLACK BRAZILIAN girl from Salvador Bahia, Brazil. I did not see a white person for 6 years except on TV and except for every other weekend (when I would bus it all the way out of the Newark/East Orange/Irvington ghetto cokmplex of about 250,000 souls to visit some old friends who wouldnt DREAM of ever coming to the city I lived in) as my job was in the accounting department of the East Orange general Hospital, and I had no car at that time due to suspended license. All of my good friends (and girlfriends) came from black countries: Haiti, Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad, Guinea, Mali, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Liberia, Senegal. Those were some of the happiest years of my life and I am still in touch with 3 or 4 wonderful friends who I met while living there, even after 18 years.
I have pictures of Frederick Douglas and Booker T. Washington on my bookshelf, and a often wear a pin with Harriet Tubman on my blue jean jacket in the Fall. Marcus Garvey is a personal hero of mine, and my favorite musicians are Jimi Hendrix, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, James Blood Ulmer, Djeneba Sec, Sayon Camara, Harold Maeburn, Sonny Fortune, Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Christian, Lester Young, Count Basie, Pharaoh Sanders, Ornette Coleman, Eddie "Clean Head" Vinson, Eddie Blackwell, Buddy Miles and Buddy Guy.
Now as a little food for thought, I will leave you with the girl who I used to be in love with (this is no joke, after my 1st wife and I divorced, I dated this lovely woman for 1 year. I then went to Arizona and she went back to Mali about a year later.), Miss Djeneba Sec of Bamako, Mali:
always in my heart
