Before or after the sparring session? Scrap will know[/QUOTE]
That Day they Sparred Duran was Pissed. after the 1st I told Nigel to relax and enjoy, someone before had told Him to go Hard. Got to say when I was told I had Duran for 2 week in the Gym, I wasnt looking forward to it. Hank Caplin came over with Him. Got to say I loved every minute of it Duran is a Diamond and as funny as Fuck, Oh and He could Fight .

That is one of the great things about having opinions. You get accused of being all kinds of things that you had never contemplated prior to expressing that point of view. 'Nigel Benn is black and Brockton says he is a dirty fighter, thus he might well be racist'. Ah, bless small minded humanity.

aye, mate, aye. For the record (if there IS one), I lived in an ALL BLACK GHETTO CALLED EAST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY (population 88,000, ranked in 2012 as the "2nd most black city in the USA after Gary, Indiana") for 6 years, and my first wife was an ALL BLACK BRAZILIAN girl from Salvador Bahia, Brazil. I did not see a white person for 6 years except on TV and except for every other weekend (when I would bus it all the way out of the Newark/East Orange/Irvington ghetto cokmplex of about 250,000 souls to visit some old friends who wouldnt DREAM of ever coming to the city I lived in) as my job was in the accounting department of the East Orange general Hospital, and I had no car at that time due to suspended license. All of my good friends (and girlfriends) came from black countries: Haiti, Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad, Guinea, Mali, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Liberia, Senegal. Those were some of the happiest years of my life and I am still in touch with 3 or 4 wonderful friends who I met while living there, even after 18 years.

I have pictures of Frederick Douglas and Booker T. Washington on my bookshelf, and a often wear a pin with Harriet Tubman on my blue jean jacket in the Fall. Marcus Garvey is a personal hero of mine, and my favorite musicians are Jimi Hendrix, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, James Blood Ulmer, Djeneba Sec, Sayon Camara, Harold Maeburn, Sonny Fortune, Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Christian, Lester Young, Count Basie, Pharaoh Sanders, Ornette Coleman, Eddie "Clean Head" Vinson, Eddie Blackwell, Buddy Miles and Buddy Guy.

Now as a little food for thought, I will leave you with the girl who I used to be in love with (this is no joke, after my 1st wife and I divorced, I dated this lovely woman for 1 year. I then went to Arizona and she went back to Mali about a year later.), Miss Djeneba Sec of Bamako, Mali:

    always in my heart

Thought about this for a time, went back and reviewed some fights and to be perfectly honest I don't really find him as an over the top dirty fighter. Ali was just as dirty with his double clasps behind the head pulling down on the brain stem, holding and hitting in almost every fight. One hand holding behind the head on the opponents power side etc etc.

Nigel wasnt a Dirty Fighter, intense yes, Dirty No. He was there to Win, but played by the Rules.

The only real dirty fight Benn had was against Barclay and he could have got disqualified for that however that was him being fired up and too excited. He was never disqualified whereas Terry Norris was constantly.
