Great fight by both fighters. They appeared to be evenly matched. I would like to see them fight again. I hope that one (either one) will be able to pull off a win in more dominant fashion the next time they meet.
As for Taylor just hitting arms all night - I disagree. He did hit arms but he was also able to penetrate Winky's gloves both straight down the pipe and around the gloves to Winky's ear. Winky's ear wasn't red from embarrasment.
Winky is still an incredible fighter, but I wish he would have been a better sport, accepted the draw and looked at it as a chance at another potentially bigger payday![]()
I deal in facts.
The purpose in a boxing match is for a fighter to hit his opponent more than his opponent hits him.
The fighter who accomplishes that objective wins the fight. That is an obvious fact.
Unfortunately, the fighter who wins the fight doesn't always win the decision because of politics, bias, incompetency, and downright corruption.
Because Winky Wright hit Taylor at least 50 times more than Taylor hit him, Winky Wright easily won the fight; and in a perfect world Winky Wright WOULD HAVE WON THE DECISION AND WOULD NOW BE MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD.

That CHUMP Jermain Taylor is the luckiest person on the face of the earth.
I see. Explain this little 4 round scenario. Fighter A wins rounds 1, 3, and 4 over fighter B. In round 1 fighter A outlands fighter B, 45 to 38. In round 3 it's 44 to 35. In round 4 it's 50 to 41. In round 2 the only round won by fighter B he outlands fighter A 57 to 30. Final punch stats favor Fighter B 171 to 169. Does that mean he should win the fight eventhough he only won one round?Originally Posted by omegapoint

That scenario is highly improbable but possible. But it has no relevance to this particular fightOriginally Posted by Violent Demise
Here is the official punch count: Ringside punching statistics showed Wright landing 226 of 642 punches to 163 of 703 for Taylor.
Case closed.
that's the same thing that many said in the taylor-hop fight...is it possible to outland your opponent and lose? when it's jermain taylor? Three times in row now...so yes..if you're jermain taylor you can thorw more & land less than you're opponent and still win as he proven in three fights although in this fight it was draw..but it just feels like they robbed wink...Originally Posted by omegapoint

No it doesn't.  But just cuz a fighter lands more than another fighter doesn't always mean he should win the fight.
Taylor couldn't see the last 2 rounds. It seemed neither fighter fought hard enough to win the last 2. It was terrible eleventh and twelfth for me.
You are being as dumb as when Mayweather beat Zab... Taylor landed two very hard hooks in the last round to the head, and a few other punches... stop being a bitch.
I had it a draw going into last round and i gave the last round to wright as i fought he did a little more even though it was not much.Taylor did even less than winky in the final round.
