But in the 8th or 9th round Winky stumbled Jermain Taylor with a straight left hand which they called a big left hand...for TaylorI mean honestly.. you even heard the crowd go 'oooooh' and Jermain held on to Winky. it was in the 8th or 9th round I believe. Would have to rewatch it, anyone see that?

You need to watch that round again then![]()
And you need to rewatch the 12th where they talked about Winky confusing and befuddling Taylor and even when Winky was boxing and bouncing Lennox said that "Wright is switching it up, he's giving angles, doing the smart thing and basically trying to win the round."
BUT in the last 20 seconds Merchent said "um..the question is can you win the 12th on defense and etc.' and then Lampley and Lennox jumped ship and said he was giving the 12th away..what a quick change of opinions don't you thinkNo bIAS at all

I strongly disagree, because a well thought out gameplan and execution and some refinement will bring this evenmore success...a year your joking rightOriginally Posted by SecondRoundKO
HE's Friggin 27 for goodness sake he has plenty time to develop and yes a few more months and better shot selection and Winky will wilt under the power...So your saying it has never happened before??
I don't care if he is 27. He is in his prime and he is fighting tooth and nail with the division's best, you don't get much better then that. To think he is going to make this GIANT leap forward is ridiculous. What more do you expect of him? Winky won't wilt, I guarantee it.Originally Posted by jtrock
I can't beleive you guys learned nothing from the first fight. It's obvious that if Taylor is going to beat Winky, he is going to have to jab and circle the whole night and hope to negate the jab of Winky. But 99/100 the fight is going to go the distance imo.
I agree with secondroundKO here. Taylor is definately able to work on a more effective strategy for beating Winky. But as for developing new skills in a matter of months and use them effectively to make "Winky wilt" is just not gonna happen. Its not realistic. Taylor will be encouraged to fight a smarter fight and it might mean an improved performance, but I seriously doubt Winky will just "wilt" under the pressure....
Im intrigued by the possibilities of a rematch...
How anyone could think J.T would ever k.o Winky is insane and those same knuckle heads were saying J.t was going k.o him saturday night ..j.t landed a few good power shots that Winky politely took and kept pressuring him as if he never threw a punch ....winky was speaking out of-fustration when he said he would not do a rematch. Now he's saying if they make the money right ....its on. Who in the hell would think Lou Dibella would ever want to go through that again!!!Winky was criticized his entire career for using his stick and move style ,so he changed it to what we see today.I assure you if there's a rematch the J.T. fans won't like it but winky will-not stand there and block knowing how the judges scored the last fight
I had fight 115-113 for Wright, but i would not argue draw, fight was very close and I think rematch would be better. Yes Taylor did landed punches on Winky but also he was landing most on Winkys gloves. I don't think if rematch happen its going to be easy for Taylor just to walk thry Wright and KO him. I did scored 12th round 10-10 simply because neather fighter did much to win that round IMO. I didn't like HBO crew first time I watched again and second time I put on mute and it was very interesting fight. I do like both fighters and I am big fan of B-HOP and still IMO think Hopkins won first fight but give credit and respect to Taylor for taking fight with Winky after two big fights with best MDW KING,he could of take an easy safe fight but he didn't and for that I applaud him.I think we will see rematch and its going to be good one too.
CORRECTION ! Winky was a mandatory fight .they tried their best not to.Originally Posted by sillent killer

Either way Taylor didn't have to take the fight after two mega fights. Don't rob him of that.
Yes there is, I remember it perfectly, was borderline disgusting now that I think about it... They kind of traded left hands, but Taylors was wild and he missed badly, walking right into a straight left from Winky, and Lampley did call it a big left for Taylor.. to be fair though, I believe they replayed the punch that Winky landed in between rounds, but as far as commentating goes it was pathetic.Originally Posted by frozensolid_702
Ok I remember that now. Yeah that was a stiff punch, but Taylor was leaning forward as it landed so he could have just been holding to keep up.Originally Posted by p4pking
