One of the most important things to realize about UFC style fighting is that when someone does something really well, his opponent will be inclined to neutralize it. Hence, if you see someone very skilled at standup, if the opponent is a grappler, he's going to take that away if he can. So the best skills often are not seen. Boxing is a single skill, and in the best boxing, taken to a very hi level, it is very impressive to watch. If these same boxers were thrown into the ufc, their skills would not be seen if they fought a grappler, or brazillian style fighter who would quickly smother them and cripple their technique. I think if a fight is exciting, it is exciting, no matter if it is pure boxing or mixed. But if you have a fight like Silvia and Arlovsky as in UFC 61, it is utterly boring -- two guys who have limited boxing skills showing their one dimensional style for 25 minutes! Now that is horrible! And they are supposedly the best of the light heavies. Surely, there are horrible boxers as well, but generally, the best ones won't put on such a terrible display, since they will be doing only what they do best.
