    HOWEVER

Think about why he's considered to be so exciting...mainly because Larry Holmes and the post Ali heavyweights were boring.

Think about the competition Tyson fought...he only BEAT 2 All-Time great fighters and one of those was a light heavyweight and the other was 40 years old.

Tyson never beat who people THOUGHT his rivals were (Lewis, Holyfield) but matter of fact Frank Bruno was his biggest rival IMO and Mitch Green was also a good rival for Tyson.

In his prime Tyson never was able to fight another All-Time Great fighter in their prime.

All of those reasons make me sort of sketched out when pairing Tyson vs any All-Time Great. (yes even Marciano and Dempsey)
I dont want to get into Larry's whole age thing again seeing that he went on a few years later to go 12 rounds with Holyfield, McCall,Mercer..Then we will have to question Marcianos status seeing out 4 alltime greats he fought 3 were pushing 40 I do stick up 4 Mike he attained alot but IMO never realized his true potential We had the opportunity to see a true Phenom in our lifetime but he let other influences run his life and never manned up to take control over his life and realize the opportunity he had and I'll say it responsibly control his destiny

this ranks up there with BO Jacksons injury as seeing greatness not realized in my lifetime as a sports fan.

Albeit Bo had no control over his injury but he was a Juggernaut of a football player and an outstanding Basball player....Mike fell short cause of Mike...But the dissapointment of both instances even though they are not the same to me are equally dissapointing

Tyson did not achieve his potential...but he was never given the opportunity to do so...

There was no Lewis nor Holyfield in 1988...but In my understanding of how good he was, then he beats them both...no doubts in my mind...

And yet people give them 2 credit for beating up an older jail bird who was now in it for only the money!! The younger Tyson was a different fighter than that, he did it because he could...

But also with Bo's injury he just dropped off the map with Mike he faded, faded a little more, a little more, until he couldn't even beat Kevin McBride...which considering how good he was, was more disheartening.

Yeah Tyson didn't have anyone to fight circa 1988 but Marciano didn't have anyone else to fight his ENTIRE career....can't blame the fighters for it. However, Tyson had GOLDEN oppertunities to fight great fighters after his prison sentence now he wouldn't be in his prime but it would give a good idea of how he would do vs the greats...for example

VS Lewis - I think this fight goes either way, either PRIME Tyson KO's him while down on points, or Lewis fights a controlled fight boring UD ala Lewis-Tua

VS Holyfield - I think PRIME Tyson goes the distance to lose a closer UD

But jail erases ANY talk of a prime Tyson against any of those fighters....Its churlish to think otherwise...

You've gone barking mad, but thats okay...I love my Tyson, and all this comparing of generations sucks because it is mere opinion...Im as correct as Lyle at the end of the day...

I know that...hell it's crazy to think after Douglas beat a 24 yr old Tyson that he'd be the same fighter vs Lewis and Holyfield.

I'm just saying that even if he was a shell of his former self you get a good idea of how he would do in his prime vs those guys...a better idea than him never fighting them at all

No but it is an extreme case of what Mike would do when tested as far as the not working enough on the inside, getting tied up and so on. His head movement would slow down more too but it would be better in the first 5 rounds though.

He still carried his power for the full fight though.

With a propper corner he goes the distance with Douglas

I say Tyson has a very good chance of beating ali because of his style, and Ali always did have trouble with the inside left hook....(he admitted it himself)..
But the thing with Ali is that his chin is very very good, and Tyson would not knock him out.

Well yeah and if Douglas doesn't lose his mother and dedicate that fight to her then maybe Douglas is not inspired enough to win that fight.

Buster won that fight as much as Tyson lost it.

Ali-Tyson is simple ALI UD, it's Ali's speed, movement, determination, and mental strength that beat all of Tyson's physical ability.

Well, I actually think Tyson could even decision him....If Frazier can do it, then Tyson can do it more clearly...

May I point out that Holmes was a better boxer than Ali and don't get me wrong Ali will most likely whip on Holmes, but Holmes was more technically solid and sound than Ali. To be honest there are alot of boxer that are more technically sound than Ali. So overall Holmes had the better defense cause he did not just rely on natural ability. IMO look at Roy Jones and Prince Naseem defense it is fun to watch but Pernell Whitaker, Floyd Mayweather, and Chris Byrd defense are better technically sound.

Like George Foreman said as Ali lost his speed you can realize he never had a defense.

So punches that Tillis and Tubbs block with there arms Ali would of tried to pull back from even if he was on the ropes he would of tried to pull back and A prime Ali never really utilize the clinch he was always moving and dancing.
