This question has been the key factor as to why I'm taking my time in getting in the ring with the seasoned club boxers....the guys that have 15-20+ fights to their name. They're dumb as stumps so I know I can out-think them, but one has to find me eventually. I'm not AFRAID to get hit, I just wanna make sure I'm ready to take that risk on every level.

Getting ko really hurts you badly.if you fall down the tree and you get hurt and you cry thats nothing than getting ko. Ko will hurt you so badly that you will have some bruises and you cant breath that much until yo are ok

The closest I have come to being KOed was at work about 10 years ago. I went to stop a shoplifter outside, he turned around and planted a hook on my jaw. The next thing I know I was wrestling with him about 20 yards from where he hit me. He hit me on the back of my jaw, it didnt hurt until I tried to eat solid food the next day. Then I felt it, doctor said I just bruised the muscles.

I got knocked the fuck out by my friend sparring. I took a swing, he saw an opening, popped me on my cheek. I didn't stumble, I just fell to the ground and couldn't do a thing about it.

    I weigh 135, he weighs 190 though.

ps, you guys shouldn't have been in the ring together unless you were going easy. I wanted to spar last week and our trainer wouldn't let me cuz the only guy there (A slow Friday afternoon), even though he's a great boxer with many amateur fights, is much smaller than me and if I was to get him I could really hurt him. The weight disparity does make a difference in the punching power and force/weight behind it.

The weights you mentioned are about exactly what we are. I'm 190/195, he's about 135/140 at the most, soaking wet with a brick.

guess that speaks volumes for me then, eh, since I was told I "could hurt him."

I've been KO'd twice - once by a spinning heel kick I never saw coming, and once by a rock wall while caving. The kick wasn't too bad, just broke my nose - it didn't really hurt until the next day - and I got up pretty quick from that. The cave wall definitely hit harder - that one got me a CAT scan and a knot on my head the size of a baseball. That was easily the hardest shot I've ever taken.

I've never been properly knocked out, though I have been pretty stunned (but awake) a few times.

That doesn't hurt at all - but being hit does!

Muhammed Ali likened it to being in a big room full of purple alligators and lizards playing trombones and saxophones. In the middle of the room there is a tuning fork that is vibrating - you have to stop the tuning fork vibrating to wake up again and be able to move, but most people just get too amazed at the alligators and lizards and stare at them too long - until they are counted out.

Sorry, Milash, but this is a bit of a odd question. There are lots of ways to be KOd - it tends to be the fall or the damage you take that 'hurts' rather than the losing of consiousness??

I was knocked cold as a kid. Fell backwards and hit my head in the playground. It was strangely pleasant. I was literally in a kid wonderland. When I woke up though, uhhhhhh. Headache. That's what I'm getting at..the after-effects of the knock-out punch. Getting popped in sparring rattles your cage for a split second, then you feel nothing, and I imagine that the knock-out punch itself is painless too since it's BANG, you're out. But when you come to.... do yuo just feel sore or is it a pounding headache?

The headache was probably from hitting your head on the ground, rather than the fact you lost consciousness?

What music was the saxophonist playing?

Von, you are right on that. We started sparring when the trainer went to the front of the gym to take care of an angry customer. When he came back, he told us we shouldn't be sparring, and if we do, it needs to be real light.

I didn't have a headache after though. Just woke up today, and I have no headache. BUT, i'm sure in many other cases you will end up with one.

My trainer just used his thumbs to straighten it up some. It doesn't look too bad now, just a little crooked! One nostril is a little bigger than the other, though
