Oh ok I know I'm the forums here but I love to go over this one more time.

If Hagler lost the fight because he gave away the first 4 rounds then how does anyone justify Hopkins beating Taylor in their first fight when he clearly lost 7 of the first 8? :P
He didn't give away the first 4 rounds, he gave away the first 3 and then won the 4th, by the 8th round it was even 4 and 4. Then Hopkins swept the last 4 rounds nearly stopping Taylor in every round in the 10th and past it and thus won. Hagler didn't sweep the last 4 by dominating Leonard, he kept it close to where Leonard could get any of the last 4. Hopkins left no doubt of who won the last 4 rounds unless you're Duane Ford.
Haha I knew someone would bite! I don't care I just know it's a sore point for so many people. Still I think 115-113 to Taylor was completely right.
I thought Hopkins won but it isn't a sore point for me. He still beat up Tarver.

If it went 15 he would have though
If it had gone 15 rds Hagler would have won IMO, Leonard collapsed after the 12th and final rd from being spent, 3 more rds and Hagler may even stopped Ray, but Leonard offered Hagler a million more in purse money to cut it from 15rds to 12rds, plus to make Hagler wear 12oz gloves instead of 10oz gloves. So Hagler's greed come back and bite em in his azz, Hagler was more than likely thinking there's no way Leonard could beat him and that he was gonna destroy Leonard going off the fact that Leonard had fought only 1 time in 5yrs. And Leonard wasn't very impressive against Howard in that fight, so Hagler thought like we all thought that Leonard was in trouble. And for the record, I too believe that Leonard won their bout.
Lol I love that, have you not seen the fight If it had gone 15 rounds, in your opinion, Hagler MAY have stopped Leonard.. I would put my house on Hagler having stopped Leonard if the fight went on another minute. Leonard was ssooo finished.
So who do you think won?

leonard should have been penalized for holding, low blows
and running away.how many warnings do you get for holding before a point gets taken away? i think there were at least 20 warnings given to leonard. had the ref been on top of that then the fight would have been very different. you have to beat the champion to win take the belt; not just do better than everyone thought cause you're the sentimental favourite. leonard did a great job, but he goty more than a little help from the ref.

    Leonard 10 ROUND2 Hagler 9

    Leonard 10 ROUND4 Hagler 9
    Hagler 10 ROUND5 Leonard 9

    Hagler 10 ROUND7 Leonard 9
    Hagler 10 ROUND8 Leonard 9
    Hagler 10 ROUND9 Leonard 9
    EVEN 10 ROUND10 EVEN 10
    Leonard 10 ROUND11 Hagler 9
    Hagler 10 ROUND12 Leonard 9

    Leonard 115- 114 Hagler

Could've quite easily gone to Hagler or been a draw - can't see how so many people think Hagler was robbed though, it was asclose as you can get imo. One judge had it 10 rounds to 2 to Leonard

Round 9 has now gone on my list of Geat all time rounds too

What's everybodies take on the fight ( I know we have done this so many times, but ti never get tired for me)

this fight just makes me mad!!!!! Hagler won and Leonard should have lost 2 points or been disqualified for all the holding....but when you have the ref and judges in your pocket you can do that....f*ckin fight...

When I first watched the fight I swore Hagler won it by a wide margin. It was the first real fight I remember watching because it was advertised soooooooo much. Watched a few months back and had Hagler winning 115-113. A lot closer than when I originally saw it, which surprised me since the I remember the overwhelming sensation of what the F*** just happened when I first saw it. It was a close fight and when they are that close there are always a couple of rounds that could have been scored either way. Plus Hagler gave in to so many of SRL's demands (ring size, # of rounds, glove size, et..) that he set himself up for a tough night. Besides all of that I still think Hagler was robbed!!!!!!! That is my opinion and I'm sticking to it!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

The fact leonard asked for some many things to go his way, glove size, ring size and duration of the fight knew that he couldnt win without the circumstances being exactly right. I havent seen the fight in a while so i wont comment but i thought hagler won last time i saw it but as i said i havent seen it in a while.

it's so obvious that Hagler was robbed...

I mean, what Leonard did in this fight ? he just ran all night, threw punches for 30seconds at the end of each rounds, and held Hagler like he was his first kiss.

You have to beat the champ to become champ, you have to be the agressor, you must win rounds other than just throwing pucnhes for 30 seconds.

Hagler was Robbed, years after years, I see it 116-112 or 115-113

Ironically, I thought that Hagler lost the first 4 rounds through his arrogance.

He seemed more concerned with showing SRL that he couldn't be conned or outboxed & subsequently ended up being outboxed!!

Had be concentrated on fighting, instead of insulting SRL's parentage & sexuality, plus switching to orthodox unnecessarily, he might have won.

imagine if Hagler had 10oz gloves, a smaller ring and 15 rounds.......Leonard is not on the contender...It would be Hagler!!!!!!!!!!!! Think of how much cooler the Contender would be with Hagler on it....the ratings could be through the roof!!!!!

I read an interview with Al Bernstein who scored it for Hagler where he said:

"I have seen the fight Hagler fight again and still have him winning by one or two points. Part of my reasoning is that the fight stats show that Hagler did out jab Leonard and if Leonard was the boxer going into this how can he be out jabbed?"

    Hagler won.
