2 rounds ahead out of a total of 6 rounds......4-2 Vitali.....that's impressive vs such a good champion especially on short notice.
Yes Lewis took the fight on short notice as well but the champion is supposed to be in shape anyways.
That being said I thought Lewis' toughness really showed in that fight as opposed to his previous fights

Lennox would have stopped him..probably. Vlad just doesn't have the chin and lewis is too accurate, hard hitting and a great boxer. The shots Vitali soaked up would have had Vlad in La La land.
Lewis would have smoked Vitalis boots as well if he could have been ass*d getting into proper shape..

No way was Vitali wilting in that fight...Lewis would of been the one going down...He didnt have the stamina to continue...Lewis knew he couldnt beat Vitali..Why do you think he refused the rematch and retired
He refused it cause he was gettin too old to be fighting and didnt want to end up damaged goods. Look at it like this: a past-his-prime Lennox Lewis went in there with a prime Vitali Klitschko on a fight he took on 2 weeks notice (he had been supposedly training for kirk johnson and taking it very lightly from the fatty spare tire he carried into the ring). What fight were you watching? Yeah VK gave him some trouble for four or five rounds but if anyone was gettin KOed it was Vitali. At the end of the round right before it was stopped Lewis was landing punches almost at will. The uppercut he hit Klitschko with that round was ridiculous...I thought his head was gonna come right off! I give VK props for having a good chin but there aint no way he was takin more of that shit especially since he couldnt see cuz his face was gettin turned into hamburger. That shot would not have just KOed Wladimir, it probably would have ended his career and maybe his life. Completely agree.
Vitali couldn't beat an out of shape, overweight(highest in his career), 38 years old Lennox Lewis who already had one foot in retirement.
If Vitali couldn't beat that version of Lennox it's a certainty that he wouldn't beat anyother version of Lennox.

Wlad could cause lewis quite a few problems if he had a chin,but i think lewis would go for the ko straight away and get the job done in the first 2 rounds.

is it me, or is everyone forgetting that Lewis didn't really have the best chin in HW history either, all of his Knockout losses came from just one punch, and also that a few others had him pretty much out but weren't able to capitalize, Bruno being one that comes to mind quick

what about ray mercer he hit lewis with bombs and that was slugfest lewis was never dropped bruno hurt him with right hand shots he comeback briggs wobbled him but he comeback and of course vitali hit him with everything he didnt get dropped lewis didnt have best chin but he had much better one than wlad has mccall was hard puncher and lewis did get up from it but ref waved it off and rahman one was lewis being cocky if lewis would of took them both serious lewis wouldnt have 1 loss on his record

Wladimir COULD....(keyword COULD) have connected first and dropped him, it is a conceivable outcome of this hypothetical fight.
HOWEVER
Right after losing to Sanders Wladimir needed time to get used to fighting again, sort of like if Collazo really busted up Hatton....you have your dream of fighting a great fighter broken right before you get there!!! I'm sure he was pissed about it
